These units are so far superior to older AC technology.....it's an absolute game changer.
What I REALLY wish is that they would discount the units that have heat pump capability. I have two of them as well and would buy one more. It's amazing the amount of heat they can put out per watt, as compared to resistive space heaters.
It is predicted to be in the mid to upper 80's already next week down here in south Texas. I hope I don't have to install them already.
Mold? I didn't have any issues with that. On humid days, the AC can pull enough water out of the air that the water pools up in the outside portion of the AC. Some people would drill drain holes in the unit, but I just folded up a paper towel into a strip and tucked it between the fins and the case so it wicks the excess water out of the unit and into a bucket or onto a thirsty plant. Works great.

main concerns are if it seals up well from bugs, and the fact i dont like that someone could peer in my windows around the sides of the unit while i'm sleeping (i'm a fraidy cat and live alone). so i guess i'll have to rig up something, like tinfoil, but that could look very ghetto.
i will probably honest just stash it in the garage for the time being. i had a backup wally world window unit special for that purpose, which those really come in clutch, but gave it away. for 250, its probably only 100 more than the wally world units today.
and oh in tx i got the oncor 50 dollar energy rebate or whatever. ymmv i'm sure. it was more involved than last time i put this in my cart where i think you just clicked something. this time it was a bit hard to understand and i had to click out, make an account at oncor , but then they basically emailed me the promo code that worked at home depot website. so really cant beat the 250 price.

hope thats a thing in a few yrs though. assuming biden hasnt banned all heating and cooling for environmental reasons yet.
Last year I bought the Costco one and they busted it, leaked oil all over. Took it in store for exchange.

You realize ALL air conditioners do this depending on the humidity in your area. Even Mini splits.

But I am on the lookout for a U shaped one for the bedroom and I need it to be quiet.
If you look at the Q&A page for this deal on homedepot, lots of people are asking for the heating functionality. So clearly a market exists, but I don't know why Midea chose to skip heating on these units.

that is a better design and has "flex" depth. some versions offer "inverter"
