They cut loose the 8 and X models this cycle. The remaining X lineup and the 11s might be dumped this fall. So maybe a year and a half for the 12s, but could be 2.5 years. Just my best guess.

I got caught by surprise when they pulled the plug on my 6s - a few months after I paid Apple to put in a new battery. It still has 100% battery health.

I'd still be using that 6s if not for the fact that you have to have an iPhone with the latest iOS to be able to update your Apple Watch. And my Apple watch is the best thing since sliced bread.

Current iOS 17 is available on XR (released in 2018). So 12 pro should get updates for at least 3 more years.

80% battery health is not great, I consider 90+ to be good and 95+ to be awesome

I bought from amazon once, and it was 70% battery.
How are you calculating that percentage

In regards to iOS updates, your concern shouldn't be security as much as it is compatibility with apps.

Once your favorite apps stop being compatible with your phone, the need to upgrade becomes a necessity not an option.

2027 13…..
Dude, it is not predictable like that. Both 6s and 7 lost support with iOS 16.

You go into the settings and click on battery and then click on battery health. It tells you your currents battery 100% charged capacity compared to a new one. 70% for example means that guys phone charged to 100% is the equivalent of a new phones battery being at 70%.

12 will lose software support soon FYI
False. The 12 was discontinued in September of 2023. Apple products reach "vintage" status 5 years after last manufacture date. Until then, products are fully supported. Tell me you have no idea how Apple supports their products without telling me you have no idea.

Mine arrived yesterday. Definitely excellent condition. Two very minor light scratches that I had to hunt to find and not noticeable viewing anything. Battery health is at 89%. When is the best time to replace the battery? 80%?

If I have an old Apple Watch 6 I'm trying to make use of, would I have any compatibility issues pairing it to this iPhone 12 Pro?

Apple recommends to replace the battery at 80% or lower, but it depends on your usage. My 6 year old SE is at 77% and I haven't noticed a huge drop in battery life throughout the day.

Trying to replace my iPhone 12 battery myself. The adhesive on the sides is making it super tough to remove the screen. Previous iPhone screen removals was not this hard….

Biggest change to me is loss of the physical SIM, which started in 14 series. We are back to CDMA activation days- gotta contact the carrier for permission to change what device I use my plan on. And not confident that international travel would be as seamless without ability to load and swap physical SIMs.

Super happy with my 512GB 12 Pro purchased used with an AppleCare plan over 30 months ago for $750 total. Somehow my phone got damaged a few months back and they had to replace the whole unit- 99% battery now.

Might be open to a 13 Pro if the price drops significantly, but really, the 12 Pro has a great camera, a SIM slot, and seems as "fast" as any of the $1500 upgrade phones I've played with at Apple stores. Choosing the right case every time I upgrade is also expensive and time consuming. The only temptation on the 15 is a USB-C data cable, that ain't worth a grand to me….
Agreed. Esim is just an excuse for carriers to charge you money for changing sim or device.

T mobile recently started charging $35 just to change your line to a different device!

I got an unlocked and non T Mobile 12 pro max and swapped the sim myself without getting charged. Nice to avoid BS fees.

A heat gun for paint on the lowest setting works well

My wife finally upgraded to a 15 pro after coming from a 12 pro. Honestly, the most noticeable difference for her was the increased battery life.

The photos seem marginally better but it's really the battery life that makes a difference. Otherwise these generations of iPhones have been very solid.

If you like your apple watch so much, do NOT update it! The new watch system is a nightmare, ruined the experience completely.
