They cut loose the 8 and X models this cycle. The remaining X lineup and the 11s might be dumped this fall. So maybe a year and a half for the 12s, but could be 2.5 years. Just my best guess.

I got caught by surprise when they pulled the plug on my 6s - a few months after I paid Apple to put in a new battery. It still has 100% battery health.

I'd still be using that 6s if not for the fact that you have to have an iPhone with the latest iOS to be able to update your Apple Watch. And my Apple watch is the best thing since sliced bread.

Current iOS 17 is available on XR (released in 2018). So 12 pro should get updates for at least 3 more years.

80% battery health is not great, I consider 90+ to be good and 95+ to be awesome

Does it matter if the phone is still supported if updating the OS could brick the phone? My son's 12 lost all network connectivity after the iOS 17 update. No way I believe it was "just a coincidence."

All This Pointless "Side-Blabber" Aside, Stick Out Tongue shake head

Has anyone actually purchased and received one? How was the condition? Battery health?

I have 11 and it's getting an update tonight. Name your source or gtfo.
Apple guarantees 7 years of support, and then security. iPhone 12 launches 2020 so in 3 years it will lose software support, your 11 has 2 year left.

iPhones might get longer than 7 but im going off of what apple guarantees.

https://www.macworld.com/article/...r%20model.

From that article: Apple will support iPhones (and all devices it makes) for seven years from the last time it sold that particular model.

Also nobody attacked you so idk why you're getting so aggressive. Your the first person ive seen who get angry about a literal comment about an iPhone lol.

RIP to the physical sims for iPhones from now on
The lack of physical SIMs from the 14 onward is stupid. Helps Apple with the cost cutting but bad for consumers. For example when you are travelling internationally and can't speak the language, who are you going to call to set up your ESIM in that country. Imagine going to China or Japan and can't speak their language.

It's very stupid and frustrating. Another frustrating part is that in developing countries many don't even offer esim for their prepaid so you're locked into one or maybe two carriers. And it's better to have choice because they all have varying degrees of signal quality.

It wouldn't be stupid if all carriers were on board and let you do everything yourself easily online, but we're not there yet. In Apple's world they want everyone to be there but even US carriers aren't there yet, much less the developing world.

Another problem I've had though is when I activate another eSim, it causes my old one to stop getting data. So then I have to call my carrier when I get back and tell them to resend me the eSim and then it starts working again. Just all around annoying.

I'm surprised this is getting so much traction. These phones have the A14 processor, same as the base model 12, and likely 80% battery. You could buy a newer device, sell it in 4 years, and still come out even or ahead. I guess if you need the physical SIM card tray it makes more sense.

I've had problems ever since Watch OS 10. Not huge problems, but glitches that I never saw at all before then.

Curious here, why is the apple watch so Greta in your opinion? I've been debating getting one
Health features, build quality, handy "complications" for things I care about, ability to make and take phone calls from the watch, and more.

Fit in? I hate to break this to you slim but some of us just get used to the operating system and the ecosystem, not because of trying to "fit in" but because we like the way it works. After going back and forth from the Mac to the PC many times since 1984, I've gotten to the point where I switched to the PC 15 years ago and to move to the Mac would be too painful for me. Ditto moving from the iOS to any other phone. I have no issue going from manual to automatic to paddleshift but that's about the extent of my ability to trade between operating systems. So I'll just continue to "fit in".

I've been running to try to lose my pointless side-blabber. It appears to be working.

LOL sorry you felt personally attacked. My point is basically this is such a bad deal IMO that you'd have to be desperate to have an iPhone to buy it.

I'd spend $50-100 more and at LEAST get a 13 Pro with 120hz and better support into the future.

$400 for a 4 yr old phone with a 60hz screen just doesn't seem like a deal to me.

FWIW, I've bought a number of refurb phones from Amazon in "excellent" condition. Never had a dud, always looked like new and never had a battery below 100%, No iphones, just android

I'm on a 12 pro right now. Honestly has held up well. For sure can see the battery go a little tho. I plan on upgrading around when the 16 comes out possibly. This phone def could last till 2026.
