I believe the lowest the drive has ever been was $209.99, but it sold out almost immediately at that price. Even a $230 price is rare for the 16TB variant so expect this to sell out fast too. Good for shucking since these are supposed to be WD white labels, CMR of course.

The 14TB variant goes for $200 during sales. On October this 16TB drive at $225 hit front page and the prices haven't come down much since then.

A good deal if you really want an external drive, but if you are shucking you're better off getting a refurb enterprise drive at around $10/tb with a 2 or 5 year warranty. External drives are normally the rejects from the enterprise batches so I would expect failure rate to be similar to a refurb with a few years of usage. In refurb market you can guarantee age maximum by buying higher capacity drives that have only been on the market for a known number of years. Right now 20tb are a sweet spot in terms of guaranteed max usage and price point. Serverpartdeals and goharddrive are great options for refurbs.

At $200 it should be 18TB, 16TB should probably be even cheaper.

I just bought the last deal of 2 14tb wd red pro Nas spinners for $466. So 233 each. This deal by op is better for some who just need space and not always powered up units
These go to sleep when not in use. That's a win.

Should be cheaper! Don't expect this will last! I don't know how many of these died on me! I suspect these were made deliberately to be failed quickly than usual!

Never again. These units don't last long. The drive controller on these suck and you'll eventually pry the case apart to try to salvage your data.

Did not know this. Do you mind citing your sources? Googling and reddit not really showing this....
