Meh…it's only a $12 savings off regular price of $249. Not terrible, but not spectacular either.

What's inside? A white label? Red plus has 3yr warranty if wd honors them.

Was debating the 14 TB for $210. Was debating the 18 TB for $286, this one got me to buy. I'll just be using it as my periodic "off site" backup so doesn't need to be great quality or shucked.

That's not true. I have shucked red drives out of these before, and checking WD warranty with the drive's serial number still lists the drive as WD element external drive, 1 year warranty.

I assume that's good? Haven't bothered keeping up with platter drives in a while.

I still have a WD model from 10+ years ago that did RAID. So if one hard drive got corrupted (which happened once or twice), could swap in another one. Do they still have options like that at a decent price?
