Now they've done it...
New wording for Metro unlock policy:

https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/t...ock-policy

"Unlock eligibility requirements
We unlock mobile devices that meet the following eligibility criteria free of charge:

The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
Three hundred sixty-five (365) days must have passed since the device's activation date."

Should obviously only apply to purchases made after they changed the rules.
But might have to fight for that...

Very old iphone and 64gb...16 comes out this year. 12 series had poor battery life and cameras were meh.
If they get the iP12, they can trade it in and get substantial discount on the new iP16.. why pay for the entire price of phone when its not necessary.. They spent $165 on the iP12, can trade into TMo for $830 off a new iP15 Max which is $1099. This is Slickdeals

I activated an iPhone 12 from Metro yesterday with a Google Voice number and got the activation email the same day. But, I noticed that I wasn't receiving phone calls nor able to send/receive any SMS messages, outbound calls seemed to work though. I was oddly enough getting short SMS from Metro. I ended up calling the porting department mentioned. That person didn't seem like they had the ability to do the number porting manually himself and was reaching out to someone else for assistance. Despite that, I got the confirmation text that my port was completed by Metro and also the confirmation email that my number got ported and my issues were fixed within a single 20-minute call. Now the 6-month wait begins...

Did the same this morning..but ended up waiting 30 mins to complete porting process. Finally got the text confirmation about port and also email from Google as follows :

Hello xyz,

This email is to confirm that your Google Voice number (xxx xxx xxxx) has been ported away from Google Voice. Calls made to that number will no longer ring your forwarding phones and new voicemails won't appear in your Google Voice inbox.

Your Google Voice account has been downgraded accordingly, but your existing voicemails and text messages remain available in your inbox. You can also continue placing calls from Gmail.

You can upgrade your account at any time by getting a new Google Voice number.

Thanks

The Google Voice team

I got the iPhone 12 delivered (2nd Line), which I 'activated' before arrival using the order number - my new number shows up in T-Mobile account (was able to login using OTP from the first line). Now,

1. If I don't physically activate this iPhone 12 (not even unbox it), would it still unlock after 180 days? I'd like to be able to gift it 6 months later to a family member.

2. Also, if I don't physically activate the device now, does the 1-year Apple warranty start only from the date I really first turn-on the phone?

3. Would the H2O SIM unlock method for 'Flex' locked phones from Target deal a month ago also work for these units from Metro? (Unlikely, but asking anyway)
1. Possibly. I think someone in the A54 Metro thread tried this and after six months the device was already unlocked on first use.

2. Apple warranty starts from date of purchase.

3. These are not Flex phones as per my understanding.

I bought one i12 and two i11's. I opened the i12 and activated it because I want to try and see if I can tolerate Apple's way of doing things. I originally planned to activate the two i11's on Metro site but not open them in order to sell them later as sealed. However, a person on another forum who used to be a Metro Authorized Dealer said that Metro does check and see if a device had connected to their cell network and had some call/text activities during the 1st month. If not, they might not unlock it (to prevent people from buying phones only to resell). So, I opened the i11s also and activated them. I don't want to wait 6 months to find out Metro didn't unlock them.

I don't want to spread FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, Deception), just posting what I did and why. It's your decision to do what you want.

I tried to port a boost number (ATT). Not from ebay, I have the sim in phone and can make calls. Called boost to get pin, ordered on metro, after a few min in number transfer page, it said transfer failed. Tried a few different computers, all the same. Any idea? Does boost lock number not allowing port out?

For people order 3+, what is the 3rd line cost? $30 same as 2nd? Or $40 if the 1st line started $40?

As far as I know, and based on what my account showed, if the 1st line is $65, then each subsequent line is $30. If the 1st line is $40, each subsequent line is $40.

So I set up a new Google voice number. I hit unlock and it unlocked immediately without charging me. I'm puzzled.

I could be wrong, but I believe it follows the plan chart:

https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/c...phoneplans

Add $5 to the $65 or $55 plan to account for the first month without autopay.

You're correct. For a 1st line with $65, each subsequent one is $30. If the 1st line is $40, the 2nd line is $40, but after that each line is $10. I don't have any $40 line. A friend has the 1st line at $40, and 2nd at $40, so I incorrectly extrapolated that 3rd line and on would be $40 also.

Probably not. I tried my T-Mobile sim - it didn't. The opposite direction should be fine.
