Now they've done it...
New wording for Metro unlock policy:

https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/t...ock-policy

"Unlock eligibility requirements
We unlock mobile devices that meet the following eligibility criteria free of charge:

The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
Three hundred sixty-five (365) days must have passed since the device's activation date."

Should obviously only apply to purchases made after they changed the rules.
But might have to fight for that...

Is there any savings if you add a line to your account rather than make a separate account?

... If the 1st line is $40, the 2nd line is $40, but after that each line is $30. I don't have any $40 line. A friend has the 1st line at $40, and 2nd at $40, so I incorrectly extrapolated that 3rd line and on would be $40 also.
Did your friend get a 3rd? If they follow the official fee schedule, the 3rd and 4th line should be $10 each on the $40 plan. The 5th will increase to $25.

I tried to open a second account using wife's info to grab a couple of "free" androids to replace my aging android-turned-security cameras but got the dreadful "visit a store/call Metro" page after submitting the payment. I gave up - can't be too greedy Wink

I have a feeling this deal might end by the end of this month. T-Mobile may be looking to increase its subscribers by the quarter end. Or they may be on the way to close all physical stores (authorized dealers anyway) and be more like Visible.

Yes, I know and he knows that the S23 FE has been out of stock for a while. But he downgraded his $40 plan to a $25 plan and has enough credit to cover the 2nd month with no additional out-of-pocket expense (and Metro won't give a refund) he might as well use the 2nd month to wait for the S23 FE.

I activated an iPhone 12 from Metro yesterday with a Google Voice number and got the activation email the same day. But, I noticed that I wasn't receiving phone calls nor able to send/receive any SMS messages, outbound calls seemed to work though. I was oddly enough getting short SMS from Metro. I ended up calling the porting department mentioned. That person didn't seem like they had the ability to do the number porting manually himself and was reaching out to someone else for assistance. Despite that, I got the confirmation text that my port was completed by Metro and also the confirmation email that my number got ported and my issues were fixed within a single 20-minute call. Now the 6-month wait begins...
I called and they asked me for my previous carrier, what carrier did you tell them? I also used google voice

I paid $3 last night to unlock my GV #. However, when I try to submit the metro phone order with GV port out it keeps giving an error.

Has anyone else dealt with this? Does it take 24-48 hours after the GV unlock to go through?

I have S23FE from Metro for $99 and Razr 2023 for $99.

I will go with Razr for the novelty factor, the same processor, and a 144 Hz screen.

I've used 4 GV numbers to port in to Metro. They were used immediately after I paid the $3 to unlock. Without knowing the reason for your error, we can't tell what went wrong but it's most likely not due to the number still being locked. Make sure you provide the correct account number (your GV number without spaces/dashes, PIN that you pick to listen to GV voicemail, zipcode).
