Phone unlocks after 365 days

Starting February 29, 2024, Metro by T-Mobile introduces the online "Bring your number" (port-in) option. People no longer needs to go to the store to get scammed for keeping their phone numbers to enjoy the deep discount. You can choose a $40 plan in most cases (even though it may say a $60 plan ($65 with autopay) is required). If you buy a phone with a new number, you need to choose the $60 plan. The free phone check-out price is $65 for the OnePlus N30, Moto Stylus 5G 2023, etc.
Metro $60 per month plan that is $65 per month ($60 with auto pay), your first month is $65 (tax included). the checkout is $65

The promotion price and availability changing daily basics , especially for the hot items such as iPhone 11, iPhone 12.

$115 ($49.99 + $65 plan) with port-in for iPhone 11
https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/c...-iphone-11

There are three purchase options.
  1. "Bring your number" (port-in): You can choose $40 plan or $60 plan, many free phones, the checkout price is $40 or $65. iPhone needs $60 plan to get discount. For iPhone , you need chose $60 plan to be able to have discount price!
  2. New number , you can only choose $60 plan ($65 with autopay) , many free phones, the checkout price is $65
  3. Existing user can add one line for $40 plan , the total checkout price would be $40 , for free phone
Many other phone "Bring your number" option to get $200 or more discount!

You can activate the phone before or after receiving it. If you don't activate the phone, the system will automatically activate it on day 21 after it is shipped. You should receive an email from "T-Mobile US" with the subject "Your phone is now active" to give you details about your phone, phone number, etc.

If you're porting from Google Voice and having issues then the direct line to Metro's porting department is 800-518-7519

Metro by T-Mobile 180 days unlocking policy! [metrobyt-mobile.com]
180 days after activation, your phone will be eligible to unlock! you don't need keep the service for 180 days, once your phone got activated one time, after 180 days, your phone is eligible to unlock!
Unlock eligibility requirements
  • The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
  • The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
  • One hundred eighty (180) days must have passed since the device's activation date.
Metro confirmed multiple times that the deciding factor of your phones unlock date is whether it was activated before May 1st (180) or after may 1st (365), interesting to see how it plays out because people in here have the terms stating that its 180 days until unlock after may 1st.

Any other information about unlocking is fake or scam!
Do not waste your money to get third party unlocking service ! it won't work.

The MOTO Stylus 5G 2023 has *6* GB RAM, not 4gb, per the Metro website. And assuming its the same phone that shipped last time, it has eSIM support as well....

Also, Metro By T-mobile also has the T Life benefit, which means you can redeem 1 year of MLB.TV for free if your line is still active on 3/26/2024.

Now they've done it...
New wording for Metro unlock policy:

https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/t...ock-policy

"Unlock eligibility requirements
We unlock mobile devices that meet the following eligibility criteria free of charge:

The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
Three hundred sixty-five (365) days must have passed since the device's activation date."

Should obviously only apply to purchases made after they changed the rules.
But might have to fight for that...

Try again using a different browser and incognito mode. I had the same issue too.

What's the next best phone after the Samsung s23 fe from metro? Is it that foldable razr?
Below are the GeekBench results that I ran on the phone I have/had. Performance wise, the Razr has higher scores than the other Metro phones. Value wise, the Moto G Stylus has the best cost-vs-performance ratio, since the Moto G Stylus is $0 + $40, while the Moto Razr is $99 + $65. The A54 has a good cost/performance ration too at $50 + $40 but it's no longer available. The Nord N30 is also a good phone for the price, but right now Metro site shows it's not available.

I hate how they got rid of Pixel 6a only to not replace it with anything at all

Do the older iPhones listed still get updates?
11, 12, 3rd gen
If no, that's a show stopper .

That's not gonna happen, although I wouldn't put it past some companies to try to get around that, i.e. Verizon with the "60-day" unlock policy they instituted when they clearly agreed to never lock their phones as part of winning Auction 73. Despite that, this is on the FCC's website: "Prepaid Unlocking Policy. Carriers, upon request, will unlock mobile wireless devices no later than one year after initial activation, consistent with reasonable time, payment, or usage requirements."

Depends on the rep you got. I got a helpful rep who completed 3 GV number ports in a 15 minute call.

Go over to the Total By Verizon thread and get an Iphone 11 fo $100. You can't lose, if you want to go back to android there'll be trade ins or you can sell it many places for cash for more than you paid. iPhone 11 is slated to get iOS 18 and will probably get another couple years of security updates past that. You won't find a more capable phone for twice as much.

I would opt for the 12 instead. At $65 more you have a 5G phone that does all the tricks and will serve you well for years. You could trade it in for gift card at Apple without loosing money or sell it without loss probably after you used it for a year and got it unlocked.

i have two metro 12s that hopefully unlock in about 5 months. but i also went ahead and got two 11s from total since they will unlock in two months. 5 months from now i may sell or trade in the 11s and use 12s. only thing i'm concerned about is the battery life on the 12, but i do like that it will likely get OS updates for the next few years.
