$187.65 for the trimmer, $112.34 for the battery
I ended up going with the ST1521 ,which is the 15 split shaft at a discounted price of $199.99. Reason being that I read that the Line IQ has faulted many. Still a good price though.
Advertising that it be this price at Lowe's and Ace till May 1st with the free battery.

Got this deal and returned the battery ($104.xx), no issues. Used the trimmer to clear out my overgrown backyard (~1000 sq ft) and didn't need to recharge the 4.0Ah battery. My only complaint is the 4.0Ah is heavy. I recommend getting a shoulder strap
My only complaint is the charger is noisy. I'm over 6-0 and extending the trmmer out balances it out pretty well for me so I don't have any weight issues with it.

I tried this methods several times and it worked...kind of.

Push and Hold the power button for 60 seconds, then insert to the charger while holding the power button for another 30 seconds.

I saw it on YouTube, just drop the battery from about two feet from the floor a couple of times, put it in the charger and voila! it started to get a charge. Have done this with two more batteries with dates of Jan, May and June 2018. Something shakes inside the battery that makes the ready to receive charge. Unbelievable but true.
Hope it helps.

I'm in. My city is banning gas trimmers because they killed the dinosaurs or something. That doesn't take effect until next year, but I might as well avoid the rush at these prices.

If I were in the used equipment business, I'd find these cities implementing their looney-tune bans and set up to buy people's gas gear at fire sale prices.

It's insane how expensive battery operated yard tools are and not last. I decided to try them and bought a $400 Snapper 60v 3pc set (trimmer, Hedger, and chainsaw) years ago and the trimmer and one of the batteries died within 2 yrs. I've had gas equipment that has lasted 7yrs straight and still going strong….

I've had my gas powered around 6 years now and I'm about to replace the carburetor for a second time. But at $15 for the carb, I think I'm just gonna run it till it fully craps out on me.

you should have bought Ego.. I just looked up my first one, six years of uptime and nearly zero maintenance. I don't like greasy, noisy and smelly tools now.

Was it under warranty? Ego has a 3yr warranty on their batteries.

Just an FYI - The Ego LB7654 blower is the same sale price with same promotion. It has 5ah battery and also comes with the additional 2.5ah free battery, too.
Link to the same price, but bigger battery, blower deal:

Would you guys recommend gas or electric.
I'm a home owner who prefers to buy once cry once and have overkill equipment. Convenience is secondary.

I understand that gas is probably a little more robust, but the electric battery systems are more convenient

Is the tradeoff in power loss worth the gain in convenience and simplification?

Thank you

ps. for reference, my pressure washer is a gas Simpson with a Honda engine 4.0gmp and 4400psi. I wouldn't trade it for anything weaker or simpler.

bought this one and the IQ line it much better than my old trimmer. With my old one it took 30-45min to trim my whole 7.5k sqft yard now i can complete in 20min. Save me time and much more power than my old one.

Couple years ago I bought the combo blower and string trimmer (ST1502LB).
I never used the string trimmer.
Is the ST1623T more or less the same as ST1502SA (I think this is the model with the combo I got).

Any reason to upgrade and I would just sell the older model???
