To add on, most people also still have many 3.5mm headphones, which the 9th Gen still has a port for. 10th Gen is only Bluetooth audio which is the present and future but even tech nerds hate Bluetooth connections. Bluetooth audio is amazing once it is rockn and rolln but it is also a royal pain up the ass at the least desirable of times
Seems like inflation has kept this product from depreciation. Still way overpriced imo. It was this price last year.
This is MORE than enough for basic media consumption. That it. Nothing else. 90% of America would be happy with it.

Think of this like basic car as Toyota Corolla. Need more "room and power"? Spend more for a Camry; not settling for a Corolla lol

These are workhorses for kids- plays Roblox and videos smoothly.

Also great for cheap tablets for businesses- kiosks, etc...

Solid for media consumption too.

Interesting, I'm curious why they just wouldn't link support to chipsets-I'm also curious how the 2015 A9 and 2016 A10 held up in 2023 and are holding up in 2024, respectively.

Remember he updated OS makes the old iPad very slow compared to original OS. Just because you can update OS, doesn't you should if everything working fine with the older OS.

$250 iPad 9 gets you about 3 years of updates
$450 iPad 10 gets you about 4 years of update
$550 iPad M1 gets you 5 to 8 years of updates

Making the iPad 9 and iPad M1 the current best value until the iPad 10 is $250-320.

I understand your pain. My daughter had a 32GB model for 3 years, a Gen 8. She cracked the screen last week. I bought the 64GB 9th gen, and tried to transfer data. It doesn't work and I tried to update the OS. She storage is full and she had to delete a lot of apps, photos, videos, otherwise it won't update (in order to copy the data to the new one).

But it seems 64GB is a boundary that some people found it's big enough and some don't think so. I bought an iPad Gen 4 in 2016 Thanksgiving for my mom, a 128GB one. Today she told me she found it's leaking battery power quick and charge slow. So I am looking for a new one for her. She said she wanted either same size 128GB or 256GB. I asked her to check the storage usage. She said it used 60GB. So it has 68GB left after 7 years and a half. I am like, you don't need 128GB. I understand iPad Gen 4 has a good quality, but she might need a newer one 5 years later since the battery may fail earlier before she need more storage. Plus she now take videos and photos with her phone. So she doesn't need a big storage any more. Therefore, we have this decision that for some people, 64GB is still good size.

Wait a second, what do we do with the videos that on her current iPad? I guess I will have to copy to my PC and not transfer to the new iPad.

Curious. How are you planning to copy the photos/videos to a PC?

Is it even worth busying this ipad when there are speculations that the newer one is about to get released in early May, which is when the prices for this one may fall down further, plus the 10th gen might be available for an actual slickdeal…

I guess I will use iTunes. Another guess is iPad will show up as a USB storage device?

Hope you know, most of the time in apple world, new one is same as old one but just the version number is higher and price...

Other than weight I'm happy with mine from a coupon/pricematch hack for $180 last July. It's plenty responsive but thinking twice about any ios updates due to Apple's history with things. I just use for basic apps and media consumption so 64GB has been more than sufficient.
