A heads up: If you abuse buying discounted phones and activating then immediately canceling AT&T service too often, you will eventually be banned by AT&T from activating service anymore.

Believe it or not, that type of gaming is tracked and no one will be able to fix that for you.

Ex-AT&T employee.

PS: If you don't care, that's fine. But If you do, then you should be aware of this and pick your deals carefully.

The Ultra/256gb unlocked is $421, no need to go thru all the cancellation hassle , better deal imo.

they are dropping 50 every two weeks. I would wait, these phones are not selling like hotcakes. I considered s24 ultra during googlefi launch promo and rolled back because the price is too steep to what it has to offer. I expect the s23 to drop in price till they clear the inventory.
Also s24 have similar att offers through best buy for +$100 to $150

Who pays for these phones at these prices ?

Bestbuy or carrier?
Both att and vzw per bb.com has similar price.
I guess it is bb who pays.

Is there a ship to store option if its not available for pickup? Someone mentioned it here but I havent seen an option to select ship to store. I dont want to ship to home and risk passing the 3 day cancellation period

Was hoping for a price adjustment, but bestbuy chat said NOT on cellphones.

So just as a data point, here's my experience.

I ported GV number to ATT. Sim was not working right off the bat because somehow old at&t wireless plan was set for my account. Talked to a customer rep to switch my plan to currently offered plan, and I was able to make calls/send texts but not receive anything, due to porting 'still in progress'. Got in touch with phone activation center and they were able to fully activate my account, which completed the porting process.

Then I proceeded with the sim swap, made a few long phone calls until my other phone was shown on the account. Continued to unlock process, using a made-up name, different email, and my other phone number. Got the unlock code within a few minutes. Put in my non-at&t sim in the galaxy 23, unlock code prompt popped up, then it was done.

Called to cancel, and cs rep confirmed that I won't be charged activation fee because it was within 3 days, only prorated usage fee which will be a dollar or two. Thank you OP.
Not sure if the deal still works. What's the benefit of porting a GV number? Would it be easier for unlocking to get a new number instead? Thanks.

It's better to do a new number to not deal with any problems during porting. The downside is you have to go to store and the store might not have the phone anymore.

I chose a new number n added a line to my existing account.
chose in-store pickup, the rep activated the line gave a new sim at store
Sim-Swap didn't work for me...
I started using the S23 on my old att line and cancelled the new line.
The unlock page message went from 'wait for 60 days' to 'cannot unlock as service was cancelled in 14 days buryers remorse' Now I am stuck with a locked att phone...
I believe I will never be able to unlock it in the future as I see similar cases who used the phone for 2 years as well...
So if you are trying to replicate the deal... don't attempt any of the step i did.. as i don't know which step caused the issue.
Good Luck

Not sure if this has been answered, but why is everyone trying to go the sim swap route if on the ATT website it clearly states from day one that the phone is unlock eligible? Can't we just request the unlock right after activation without needing to put sim in another phone then waiting for that other phone to appear in your account?

Best Buy Website showing you have to use an existing number or do the transaction in store.

You can't request an unlock right away as ATT policy says 60 days wait after the service is started. People have gotten code by talking to CS in some cases but those are rare.

Yes for a new ATT account altogether you will have to go to store if you don't port a number.

Yes, it should be. The clock starts from the time BB activates the line with ATT which typically happens just before they send you a notification for pickup/tracking (in case you are shipping).
So if shipping says it will arrive on Wednesday at the earliest, you won't meet the 3 day cut off. Is that right? TIA

Most likely but it depends when the line is created/activated which they do just before shipping, not when you place the order.
