This isn't an OLED handheld.

Holy Bernoulli. I'm not into the Z1 non-extreme but at this price it's an insane handheld PC.

$270 with tax for the cheapest open box where I live. I just bought a like new condition Z1 Extreme from a local seller for $350, otherwise would have considered buying the Z1 at this price. Use mine docked as a desktop replacement. It's connected to a 32" 4K monitor, so the additional GPU performance of the Z1 extreme helps.
Where'd you get a z1 extreme for $350? That's amazing. Asking for a friend.

He said local seller likely meaning private seller.

I laugh at the people trying to offload theirs for like 10 dollars off new price.

Yeah, that applied to almost everything on FB, OfferUp, etc. So many people trying to sell stuff at close to the street price, and sometimes even over it. I guess they are all fishing for suckers. Lol. I just scroll past those listings. Once in a while I come across a good deal with a reasonable price and negotiate it down. The seller had listed the Ally Z1X for $400, and I was able to negotiate it down to $350.

What convinced me is when I ran Moonlight/Sunshine to stream from my 4090 PC rig to the Z1 non extreme Ally. it was butter smooth gameplay with no lag. This can be done on the Steam Deck but the ROG Ally has 120hz refresh rate at 1080p and it really really shows it. I also tried it under a cell phone connection which gave some stutter gameplay with Genshin impact, but I think it will work seamlessly if I connected to someone else's home Wi-Fi. I had planned on buying a premium low cost emulator portable to run gamecube, PS2 and Dreamcast (ayaneo or Retroid Pocket 3+) but this is much more powerful. I then finally decided to start buying accessories and I'll probably switch out the NVME drive for a 2TB one so I can start loading emulators onto it.
I found this post helpful if you're going to switch in a full size 2280 ssd into the Ally. My backcase also had a slight bulge from the ssd's heatsink ( I installed a thick-ish aftermarket one from Amazon), I just took a nail-clipper and trimmed 2 of the plastic brackets and they no longer touch the ssd...I also added kapton tape underneath the new screw as a added safety precaution.

I knew about the right angle adapter for the bigger standard size NVME drives. I have a 4TB 990pro 2280 I was interested in putting in so I can put my whole full emulator repository of thousands and thousands of games from NES/Sega Master system to Dreamcast/PS2/Gamecube era but 2TB was sufficient with the 2230 SSD I got from Micron. I wish I could use the Micro SD card slot to add another 1TB but I don't want to risk killing the card.

Much appreciated about the bulding/plastic to cut off info in case I go this route at some point in the future.
