I used drano with mixed success to clear clogs in my sinks. What I've found works a lot better is a plunger. I got a little sink plunger for $2 or so and it makes much shorter work of clogs than drano does.

Agreed. And besides, this has never worked on hair clogs for me (which is most of my house clogs due to long hair). The Drain Weasel or similar knockoffs work much better for me.
Green gobbler works best on hair clogs.

My Kitchen sink always clogged with cooking oil and leftover fats, the water running slow periodically. does this help to dissolve them? or any recommendation? im sure the baking soda + vinegar do not help much.

The general rule of thumb is to use this stuff on slow drains so that it can be flushed out completely. If you use it on a stopped drain and need to call a plumber they're gonna have a bad time.

That's a great deal. Came out to only $10.10 including taxes, after 25% coupon and 15% SS.

However, I don't know if they're the identical products (even though Amazon lumps them together). The label on this single bottle says that it has something called PipeProtect. The bottles on this double pack doesn't show that on the label. Further complicating things is that this double deal has photos that seem to show different names. The main photo simply shows Max Gel but one is the later photos show Max Gel Ultra!

Plumbers usually hate hearing about this.

One of them once explained to me that it damages their drain snaking equipment and possibly the pipes too.

Since then, all I use is baking soda + vinegar + boiling water
A baking soda and vinegar solution has absolutely no effect on fat, hair or soap scum. Especially after they've been diluted in standing water. It makes perfect sense if you'd think about it. The alkaline baking soda and acidic vinegar neutralize each other so your basically just pouring water down.

There a great YouTube video showing this but you can prove it yourself. Just put out three cups with hair, solidified fat and solid soap individually. Then cover them with your baking soda and vinegar solution. Wait a while day if you want but you'll see that none of the three have been affected in any way. This is about as convincing a proof as you'll ever see. If direct saturation of those substances with baking soda and vinegar do nothing then you can imagine what happens inside the drain with a huge clog.

As an aside, this claims to have something to protect pipes.

If your sink is draining slowly, learn how to take the P trap apart. It only takes 2 minutes and it's much better than destroying your plumbing with these chemicals.
Agree on this. Just wear a mask. The small can be pretty bad.

how is this better than OPs deal? I see $17 for a 2 pack, 80oz or $8.50 each. OPs is at least $6 after S&S (if not cheaper)? Are we missing something?
It was 10 dollars for a 2 pack when I posted. It has gone up since.

To all messaging about safety of this and plumbers, I work in a plumbing office. Company charge landlords more if the tenants use draino, my guys get furious when they have to worry about waste water mixed with chemicals getting on them. Tech recently had to throw away some clothes that got damaged by this stuff. I believe it really only works on grease, if you have major blockage this is not going to do anything and if you have really old pipes could do more harm than good. But don't listen to me I'm just a guy who works in an office, this post has a lot of good info on what to do aside from using liquid draino. Learning how to take apart the trap under a sink is the greatest tool but not everyone is confident. Next time you have to call a plumber try to watch what they do and learn, it's not that difficult really you just need the right tools. Good luck!
