I paid just over $20k on the Bolt after factoring in the $7500 tax credit. Sold the Focus for just shy of $8k (which is a stupid amount of money, but early 2023 used car prices were stupid). We put 90% of our miles on the Bolt and are saving around $1400/year in gas alone (this is after factoring in electricity cost).
The math simply works out in favor of the EV given our use-case. EVs aren't the right choice for everyone right now, but a lot of the anti-EV crowd also don't seem to understand EVs in general.
BTW the Solterra is Doug DeMuro's #1 worst car to buy. https://youtu.be/JTB2jDOFbz0
1) If you are willing to go used, there are many EV models (see Fisker) that are practically being given away right now with low mileage. Its ridiculous how bad their resale value is.
2) While I haven't personally driven it, I love watching car reviews and for the Solterra... yeah, they were lackluster at best. Not as bad as the Mazda but basically slow charging, low range, and nothing greater in any other arena.
That said if you HAVE to go new then lease is the only logical way to buy a non-American EV because they won't otherwise qualify for the tax credit, and this isn't the worst EV, its just not that great.

Fiskers are being given away because the company is out of money and will shortly be out of business. Who would buy a nearly-new car with 0 warranty, parts availability, or anyone willing or able to ever fix it or do anything with the software?
A few years ago. When Volkswagen had their huge discounts. I Picked up a 2019 brand new e-golf. For $13,000 out the door. Best car I have had in quite some time. I bought it not lease.
its not nearly as fancy as these $40k+ cars. but works well for me. w 0 issues. ~77k miles so far.
And to finish the thought. Anyone purchasing that Fisker today at that price.. Needs their head examined

typical EVs?
You ignore the true cost. Coal and wood is being burned to make components and parts and then again to charge batteries is not efficient and you do not account for all costs, China's coal plants are not efficient or clean and we all breathe the same air.. You also ignore the deforestation effects and the increased pollutants and toxic waste that we will have to deal with. You also ignore the mining and human slavery that also has it's costs.
Care to explain why EVs can drop near 60% in value after a year or so if they are so efficient and great. Cradle to grave for a EV is when the battery warranty runs out. That is going to have piles and piles of EV leaking toxins and heavy metals who knows where.
You really need to educate yourself, don't let them educate you.

Note the car in THIS deal doesn't really fit the above-- it's pretty trash on specs because Toyota EV tech is a decade behind-- but that's not representative of most EVs sold.
