Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ 5G tablet at Metro for $49.99. Add it as a second line with minimum $20 data plan. I'm just ordered mine few minutes ago. it was showing OOS until last night but it became available this morning. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me. don't really need it but why not at this price. Total paid $75 with $20 data plan and $4.xx taxes.

FYI - for those not aware - you'd need to have an existing Metro account to be able to purchase this tablet (or any other device as a second/additional line. Like any other Metro phones, this tablet purchase is prepaid, and so you are not locked into any kind of contract. You only need to pay for the tablet and first month of data plan. Then you are free to cancel the service, keep the tablet just as a regular wifi device. This is my first time buying a Metro tablet but I'm still hoping it will unlock after 6 months just like any other Metro phone.

Warning ? ️ - try not to go to Metro stores. They are in general scammers and will try their best to treat you like a fool and steal your money by forced up selling and forced mandatory accessories, exorbitant taxes, and insurance with or without your consent. Try ordering online. You've been warned ??????
Also, if you buy online, there's no activation fees and tax applies to the discounted price. You'll save yourself good cash and respect and a way better deal if you order online.

I think you should put not 49.99 price in the title but 69.99 as a new line of 20 bucks is required.
Saw it added to their website yesterday but it was not in stock.
Called to order through customer service but order didn't go through.

Tried again on the website and was able to order one just now.

Better than buying the Costco WI-FI only version for double the price!
Don't ask me how I know this...

You're getting that reply because your browser couldn't connect to the authentication server Metro uses.

Could be an adblocker, host file, etc. Or even your ISP could be doing it.

The simple answer is to turn off any and all adblockers, script blockers etc.

When everything is working correctly you'll see three challenge questions to authenticate your identity.

And before you say it, yes they do this even if you've already logged in with your Metro account to purchase the tablet. It seems they do the three challenge questions on every order regardless of whether you're already a customer or not.

To sum it up, you need to find what's blocking the connection to that authentication server. I found that turning off all adblocking etc, and opening an incognito tab on my phone, which had WIFI off, and connecting through my mobile network fixed this problem several times.

Good luck

When I first got the Tablet it wouldnt let me set it up without the SIM card, this wouldnt happen again after restoring factory settings?
There is a way to do it. It was mentioned earlier in this thread. But... 👇👇👇

Quote from MediumMosley :
Did a complete factory reset and after skipping all of the start up stuff it still is installing the Bloat MetroPCS apps and the boot up screen still shows up. I assume you will need to find a flash the stock unlocked firmware. And yes I do not have a SIM card in the tablet and it still is showing.
...if that's the case, then it might be permanently Metro-branded because the original setup used the SIM.

In another thread for an A7 Lite tablet from Metro, someone else pointed out that setting up without the SIM results in a clean tablet with no bloatware:

There is no bloatware. I did not use the sim to activate so no Metro garbage.

Got my 2nd tablet today. I tried to setup without sim card but it just wouldnt let me proceed further without a sim. After setting up with Metro sim I replaced it with a Tmobile sim and it replaced the splash screen with TMobile instead of Metro on reboot.
I am able to get decent speeds with a TMobile voice sim on this tablet. I thought it would be locked to Metro but it seems like TMobile sims work on it.

Now Im curious if it will unlock after 6 months if i use a TMO sim in it.

Agreed. While I would've loved a 1200p screen. 1080p on this doesnt look so bad.
Google Meet seems to be shitty in my testing. For whatever reason video of the other party looks garbage 480p for some reason even though we're on the same wifi and i'm using a high end phone at the other end.

What kids apps do you use for managing kids screen time and app usage? I have a 3 year old and was keen to use the tablet for some educational applications.

For Android? Google Family Link has worked great for us. You can manage how much screen time per day, and or per app, and restrict content by rating. You can also require approval to install apps via message to your phone or account.

One of the reviews I watched stated it does have DEX and demonstrated it.

More than screen time right now I am looking for some good educational apps and also to not allow the child to exit the app and get out of the app and do other things. We have used this app [google.com] which my 3 year old likes but either gets too unruly when screen time ends or manages to exit the app and gets into the camera and plays around. So for now I have managed to just stop using the tablet. Its a really old 7 inch LG tablet from almost 8 years ago IIRC. Got it on a promo for free from TMobile when I got the LG G6.

Maybe checkout the Samsung Kid mode app.
It's in on the tablet. I had a version on an older Samsung tablet when the kids were younger.

Spend more money and you can get tablets with 128GB/6GB RAM. For people who just use their tablets for web-surfing, email, playing music, etc. 64GB of storage (and a microSD card) with 4GB of RAM are sufficient.
