Be aware that these are the base M1 models with binned 7-core GPUs, only 2 ports and no touchID on the keyboard. I'd personally recommend spending the extra &100 on the 8-core GPU model with 4 ports and touchID (as well as Ethernet on the power cable).
Amazing deal for an incredible screen, dead silent operation, and fast speeds all around for non-gamers (and even some games are starting to appear for MacOS!!).

The only question: If it's worth another $50 to get the (admittedly, orange only) model with touchID (easier logins and authentications), 1/8th more GPU grunt, 2 more USBC ports, and an ethernet port in the power supply (which is surprisingly convenient!)

I'd say it IS worth another $50 for most people: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/imac...22Deals%22

(Just click on M1 8 Core and then the orange color to see the $850 price)

The best 'deal' is probably open box M1 8 GPU-core (touchID) for $800, excellent condition. That would be worth getting…
Pulled the trigger and bought this iMac. Our current iMac is a 2011. Thanks.

Your reading comprehension is terrible, as is your logic. Go back and read what I wrote, then respond to that, rather than to your imaginary argument. Stop making strawmen.

And be happy a $4000 Apple M3 Max laptop can beat a basic $300 Intel CPU. That's what you're reduced to. Frown

You lost, Elon. Face it and move on. What I wrote previously was completely correct.

what kind of idiot compares a full M3 laptop to just a chip to talk about price? Do you just run the intel CPU plugged into your brain like neurolink without anything else? You would. lol

Cmon Elon - you already lost. Time to head on out…

Who is comparing laptops (except you…)? I clearly said studio in the original statement …go back and read…. Again.

Be wary of this users opinion for we do not know their background.

If they are still using a 2011 and trying to tell you about a 2021 model...

This would be like listening to your grandma with her 20 year old laptop telling you it's as fast as the ones in store.

Be very cautious of the advice you heed from online.

No offense Gary but with your down votes, it seems you are an outlier. I currently use a 2021 m1 and Asus zenbookand have owned many macs and Windows before

Thank you for your kind words! I see and tell it like it is! My 2011 iMac was just as fast as the M1 machine that I returned. Grant it, I only surf the net and do no editing or open multiple screens. Figured I will wait for the M3 to come down in price. I need to upgrade due to no security updates on my old iMac.

A 2011 Mac will not run current MacOS, but most importantly does not get security updates.

Thank you for letting me know that. It's tough Apple won't support that model anymore. It's a great machine!

I own a 21" 2011 iMac i5-2400S. I can tell everyone in no uncertain terms that "gary" is, either deliberately or via his own lack of knowledge, pulling everyone's leg. The 2011 iMac is a snail; even logging in takes time (yes, I have 8GB and a 1TB SSD; no HDD is involved here); opening a browser takes time. Everything takes time and is slow. The CPU is routinely at 100% for seconds to, even at rare times, minutes at a time. It's very, very slow. And heaven help you if there's an Office update or some other activity happening in the background; be prepared for even more slowdowns.

If Gary wants to sit here and tell everyone he can't tell a difference between a 2011 iMac and a 2021 iMac, that sounds more like a problem unique to Gary than anything else, alas.

The 8GB is works pretty good on these machines for basic tasks. I have LG gram 32GB and 1TB, it heats up real quick and is very annoying to use.

I'm making myself to get used to Mac though I hate Mac OS just because how cool these M series run and how long the battery lasts.
lmfao.. u realize ram and ssd storage have nothing to do with a pc heating up? literally nothing to the extent you're referring to in your comment's context. ram and ssd wouldn't be the reason you feel 'heat' it would be the cpu/gpu lmfao

To confirm, M1 is ARM processor? So can get away with 8gb, unlike on Intel.

ROFL. Arm has nothing to do with it. Storage has gotten fast enough on an platform including mobile phone and Windows PC that having to page something isn't a huge profit hit like back in the HDD days.

Screw Apple and their ecosystem. I will never buy another Apple product again after the whole propriety charger debacle.

Much better PC's out there than Mac's as their overpriced just like the rest of Apple products. End rant.

Would it not just be better to buy an M1 Mac mini and buy a nice monitor and vesa mount it? I understand an all in one solution is easy for people to get and be happy but still just seems over priced.

All depends on what people want/ If you want a 23.5" 4.5K screen AIO this is about your only choice … I think the lack of cabling and the simplicity of these is a benefit and interest to some as well.
