I went to my local Target yesterday and they had none in stock, but they still had their display model, which I ended up buying for 30% off the clearance price (699.99). I looked closely for any burn-in spots, but couldn't identify any - I plan to do extra testing today - has anyone had a bad experience with display models? I have 30 days to return - keep or nah?
Went to my local store in NJ yesterday that said limited stock. Like a freaking 2 acre store and I couldn't find a god damn employee for about 20 minutes to check the stock for me. Tried calling before I went but no answer. Never again.
That's interesting. So I guess an employee could be totally lying to you as long as they haven't updated it yet and say that the price is coming up the old price on the Zebra scanners And the self serve scanners around the store would only reflect the un updated price.
The employee straight up told me he doesn't know when the clearance prices get updated because if he did he would just go purchase it himself. 🙄 Great there's no competing with that. He can scan it before the store even opens and buy it before a customer can even walk through the door.
Thanks for the info!
So to piggy back from yesterday. And to provide a data point. I'm in the store right now and scanned the picture of the barcode at a price checker. $1400. I go back and see that the two that were there yesterday are still there. Employee eyeing it yesterday isn't here that I can see. So I very kindly and innocently asked an employee working the prices in toys if she could check a price for me. We go back there she scans it and it's $1400. I asked very politely if she could possibly check if it's due for another drop. She says sure I'm in the price checking screen. So using the little handheld scanners most employees have she looked and scanned it again and activated the additional price drop. And sure enough I checked at the price checker and it's now scanning at the new price of $1000.
So it doesn't take a manager to activate the further clearance. You can ask any employee and maybe from a different nearby department and they might do it without any issues.
Currently waiting on my wife with the minivan to drop the kids off and help me load this thing.
Oh and the Target website was spot on for inventory. At least for the two stores that I went to. The display is included in that though.
My Target has a few but will not lower the price or check for me at all. Says their Target has no issues selling the C3 so they don't put it on clearance. Should I come back later and try asking someone else?

If the drive to it is convenient enough. The deal is crazy slick to try several times 😀
Against my better judgement, i trusted the stock presented in the online app and went to 2 stores, wooddale and lombard, il and both had 0 in stock. Even the wooddale store rwcommend i go to the lombard store. I wasted 2 hours and a half tank of gas. F target and their fake online stock in their app.
The 1 in stock is the display. I was there yesterday morning…unhelpful and no clue managers didn't think they sold displays, didn't know how I had a picture of a tag at that price, took 30 min to even get someone. No one could find remotes so I could try to determine power in time. Wouldn't drop to 999…I skipped

Where to find the number of units in inventory on the Target website?

Click on in store pick up. Then enter your information and it will show local inventory. If it says OOS I'd believe it. If it says low stock I'd assume display. If it gives a number then bingo. Subtract one for the display. Good luck. Happy hunting.

Thanks for this thought. It likely is the case, the display model. Good point.
I did offer to buy the display models but the 9pm managers both said no, they weren't for sale. I guess that can vary by store. We probably lucked out anyway as these tv's have thousands of hours on them (one had burn-in) and aren't worth it with even a further discounted price.

Yep, I figured it out. For all stores in my 50 mi, it says exactly 1 unit left for each of the stores. I played around zip codes and found 1 store in another state has 3 units. Is there a way can get that unit from that store .. it's almost 7 hrs drive for me
Target Woodfield Mall, Schaumburg, IL has the 55" and 65" as of 8:30am today if someone is interested. I have no idea if it was all display models or if you would have any issues buying them. I was looking for the 42" and I saw the 55" and 65". 55" was $750ish. Good luck.

That I don't know. Sorry. But at least in my experience it was spot on. They likely have two plus the display.

Just put on a white back ground and look for burn in. The only down side is if the display model was never turned off like once a week to trigger the screen refresh.

Is it advisable to break these OLED panels in running slides or something like that? Any suggestions on settings? Calibration?
