moderate level of wear & tear including (but not limited to) scratches, dents, and dings. Outside of their physical appearance, they have been tested to be in full working condition.
Are these capable of downloading google play? I need a cheapie for camping, tossing it the car or roller bag for travel. Can these handle Gmail and will they accept a SD card with images? Assuming there are some ports that will work for file transfers?

Even as a kids tablet.... the Amazon parent dashboard can suck. I alarm a tablet to find it and it doesn't go off until the next day, for example. Google's Family Link is much more dependable, but not usable on fire tablets, even with Play etc installed.

I have Google play on it. Took like 5 minutes to install google play and Gmail on it. I have this specific model and it is slow. Get it only if you are fine using one app at a time and if you are patient enough to wait a long time for the app to start.
depends... 1080P or 720P or 4k, etc... But you really need to have ONE app going at a time. ONE tab going in Chrome (two tabs is too much strain)... do you see where I am going. This machine is just too weak.
I could not recommend this tablet EVER, it is just too slow. Not worth the headache IMHO.
Cheapest GOOD tablet is the Lincplus T3 sells between $90 - $110 and it is now at $110... at Amazon.
This is what I paid about a month ago...
Order Summary

$89.99
The specs...
Screen Size 10.36" (nice enough FHD screen)
Super Clean Android 13 with zero bloatware
8GB RAM / 128GB
CPU/GPU G99 (equal to a SD695)
4 speakers
you can install a micro SD card
Next BEST tablet to get (my true preference) but the price is around $142 (right now) at Amazon
Iplay 50 mini pro NFE 256GB
Super Clean Android 13 with zero bloatware
Screen Size 8.4" (nice enough FHD screen)
8GB RAM / 256GB
CPU/GPU G99 (equal to a SD695)
ONE speaker (biggest downfall, but I use headphones)
Can install a SIM card and/or a micro SD card
the iplay has gotten multiple updates so far, I hope there will be more of them. One nice feature is flip to turn on when in sleep mode.

good and thanks. Did you use XDA to install the play store? My use will be some light photo editing, browser and email.
Tool Box will most likely do nothing if Amazing has Firmware installed on this since 2021.
And even if toolbox worked, the CPU is just that slow and you would be running Android 9 that has not been patched since 2020.
It just does not make sense when newer tablets with Android 13 are selling for $142 or even cheaper. And no adds, no bloatware (actually ZERO bloatware), 8GB of RAM 128 or 256GB hard drive, nice looking screens in Full HD.
