Bought this when it was about $100.00. Stuck it in my PS5. Been there for some time. Has worked well. If you have a Motherboard with heatsinks you can remove the heatsink from this drive. Or just use the heatsink and leave the one on the board off. Both will work. With all that said though there are better options out there. A couple months ago the Crucial gen 4 drive 4tb was $214.00. Prices have gone up though. YMMV.

My goal is to get rid of that noisy, clanky 10GB Seagate spinner in my desktop PC amidst all the quiet SSD drives in there too, but at this price for only 2TB it ain't happening anytime soon though I did just buy a Silicon Power 4TB NVMe for only a few dollars more so I'm getting there, slowly but surely.
10GB, you should upgrade to a Windows 98 machine Stick Out Tongue

They went up, multiple articles in the past year about nand prices going up. So i bought a 2TB 980 pro 07/2023 for $99
Last summer Amazon and Best Buy had this for $99. I bought mine at Best Buy. Manufacturers had been cutting back production causing prices to go back up.

I dunno. When I said it sounds like a grunting grandma I meant a constipated grunting grandma lol I used to use rubber/silicon screws in all my case fans and HDD cages but this damn Seagate really does sound like it's hoking a loogie or expiring while being crucified, and it sounded that way since Day 1 Wink I think I'll just wait for more SSDs nod

Amazon currently has the 990 PRO for $10 more, after a $30 coupon clip - net $160
https://www.amazon.com/SAMSUNG-In...B0BHJJ9Y77

It's not worth a separate thread, for the mods to combine later, so I'll just post the full product name here for deal alerts' triggers.
SAMSUNG 990 PRO Series - 2TB PCIe Gen4. X4 NVMe 2.0c - M.2 Internal SSD (MZ-V9P2T0B/AM)

Bonus:
If you're in the market for Amazon Warehouse, there's been quite a few 980 and 990 PRO sticks sailing through it as I type this.
Generally, I'm seeing the 980 PRO for ≈$123 and 990 PRO for ≈$135. There must be a batch of Used-Good, because that's the only quality I saw. YMMV, ofc.

Edit:
Don't forget to check the Amazon Warehouse variations with included heatsinks. They've also seen some price cuts.

Is this deal dead? I don't see any coupons to clip.

From a deal standpoint, it would be better to wait until a local Monopolistic manufacturing alternative became available. This would create an environment where your inflation rate was stable (1 to 2 percent or below) and you could pass on any cost of production increase of raw materials and inflation to others giving them an average inflation rate of 5.6% to 7.7% and above.

However, if you can't wait for that to happen, you should consider OP's deal

This will not be high tech anymore in few years! just like the charge wire. Once the currently construction fabs in all world start to produce, the IC market will collapse in no time!

I refuse to buy SSDs at these prices out of spite. I'll just delete stuff and reinstall it.

It's simple enough, however it will void your warranty as the drive sticker is on the heatsink along with a void warranty sticker.

Just ran into this with my Hynx, said screw it and razor bladed the stickers off. Hoping I don't regret it but I did cut my temps by 20C. Curious what the Amex extended warranty process is though, maybe it won't care if I cut off the stickers?

Update: Based on videos, I guess I could have left them on. O well.
