About this Game:
The Galaxy's Last Line of Offence. Enlist in the Helldivers and join the fight for freedom across a hostile galaxy in a fast, frantic, and ferocious third-person shooter.
275 hrs in and I'd advise waiting on this one. Launch was disasterous and it's still very buggy. The Devs stated that they are prioritizing monthly DLC launches over bug fixes. Every time they patch, bugs gets worse. Last patch introduced more crashing, sometimes at the end of the mission. 40 minutes wasted. We still have no fire or gas DoT since launch despite promises to fix it. Matchmaking cross-platform or with friends is still hit or miss. The Devs will dictate your play style by continuously nerfing favored weapons. Solo player? Forget it. They increased enemy spawn rates to overwhelm you. Great game, and over time it will get sorted but I'd wait a few months.

I'm able to beat missions on level 7 by myself, but it takes using the light armor that gives you 30% more range before being detected + shield. It's all about stealth and quick attacks. And it's much easier against Automatons as I still don't get how bugs release signal for breach. You can outrun the Automatons, but Terminids are much harder to get away from. Game is way more fun with others though.

You can run this on a steam deck. https://www.protondb.com/app/553850 those can be had for around 300 refurbished direct from valve (low settings will get you 30-40fps on it).
If you build a rig you want at least a 2060 or 6600xt and 16gb of ram (cpu i7 9700) PC part picker will tell you cost.
Speaking as a Deck owner and my sons used it on the couch, its just barely enough. Struggles to hold 30fps and for a shooter its just hard to cope with that.

275 hours in? And a "wait" vote? That's crazy. How did you not get $30 of value and play for that many hours? I'll be waiting for you at the front of the ship, arms open for a hug!
Right now the community is huge and relatively engaged. The reddit sub is super active.
Waiting and you might miss the buzz. And yeah, maybe DoT or something might be resolved by the time you play it but in the grand scheme of things, how much does that matter?
I'm 92 hours in (Steam/PC) and absolutely love the game, if you ever wanted the Starship Troopers experience this is it, it's so much fun with friends because shit hits the fan FAST in higher difficulties where you can't believe the intense shit that's happening, sure the game has a few bugs here and there but it's usually a random crash here and there, nothing game breaking, out of those 92 hours I've had issues maybe 10-15 times total and 99% of them have been crashes.
I mainly play FPS but this, like Resident Evil, are very fun in 3rd person and 1st person is possible when aiming, so it's got everything, unlocking things is fun, you have to gather samples to upgrade your ship/destroyer and you don't even have to BUY DLC, they give you in-game money from the free battlepass and in maps, scattered.
Playing with randoms is fun, just stick to lower difficulties until you learn the ropes really well, and remember, friendly fire is on perpetually and yet people don't teamkill you for no reason, it's 99.99% an accident, it's the least toxic community I've met, and this is with crossplay enable too.

Some misinformation here but not all wrong. The game has bugs, it's live service, and they're pretty quick at fixing them. Join the discord and reddit, there is a ton of information from the developers. Yes they don't explain every move they make in supreme detail but they're communicating with the player base vs just holding their hand out and pumping out micro transaction items. The developers have addressed much of this here. The spawns just got fixed to what they were supposed to be. Example 4/4 players squads gets 4 patrol spawns a minute, on solo it was .6 of a spawn, so they bumped it to 1. They buffed MOST guns and brought the other guns back to where they should be. My primaries got "nerfed" but I can still clear 9/helldives without seeing much of a difference. There are about 200k players activity online every evening. I personally haven't ran into any toxic ppl, and I get more people on comms than not, you just have to talk.
edit: level 65 / 170 hours. only spent $10 on super credits but haven't bought any since, playing the game regularly gives you enough in game currency to get your warbond packs.
112 hours. Absolutely a great time and worth the cost. I play on a 3060ti pc and generally runs pretty well on medium custom settings. 50-90fps.
Being 275 hours in and saying "wait" is silly. Holding on to the launch issues this far down the road and claiming its "very" buggy is overblown too. Every game has bugs. They've been doing a good job of fixing issues. I will agree that their weapon balancing is too heavy on nerfs rather than buffs to make other weapons more useful.
How much would a basic PC cost that could run this?
Theoretically, the minimum specs are actually pretty low. 8gb ram, Intel Core i7-4790K, 1050 Ti, 100gb storage.
You could easily spec out a Intel Arc 310 system for: $30 ram, $95 i3-12100 cpu, $90 h610m mobo, $100 arc 310 gpu, $20 128gb storage, $36 case, $45 500w psu. I think that's everything. That's $416. I think some people used integrated graphics, so maybe you could roll the cost of the GPU into a better processor. You can use un-activated Windows for free. You could probably get 30 fps on low. It's not particularly powerful, though.
This is all assuming the arc gpu can even run it (Looks like Reddit people run it using 770 and the 310 is faster than 1050 ti). As another comment said, if you're able to spend $700, you'll get a WAYY faster system.
This is my favorite game since Battlefield 4 (10 years old). It's revived my joy of gaming, which I thought I was losing due to age (over 50, started gaming on an. Apple II+). Turns out I just needed a fun game again. It's such a blast.

It's a great game, even better with a solid group. Probably one of the best releases of the year.

Contrary to popular belief, 50k or even 5k concurrent on Steam does not make it a "dead game" and impossible or even difficult to find a lobby.
