Found this via the Polestar subreddit.

$299/month for the base Long Range Dual Motor version, with a $3000 down payment. Should be about $20 or so more per month if you add Pilot and Plus packages.

Costco Auto has a $2000 member-only incentive which will help reduce the down payment to $1000:
https://www.costcoauto.com/save/m...=polestar2

Someone in the polestar subreddit did some math with the configurator and compared it to the Tesla Model 3:
https://old.reddit.com/r/Polestar...pricing_i/

But with a callout
> Need to call out that Model 3 is a base RWD Model 3 vs Polestar with the free Dual Motor / Pilot upgrade. Also taxes and fees are excluded.

I like EV's a lot (currently own 2)โ€ฆ rented a Polestar 2 for a week while traveling and really hated it. Felt super small inside and did not make good use of the interior space like most other EV's do. We had heard good things about Polestars and were surprised how much we didn't like it. It was such a treat to return home to our Bolt EUV.

This is exactly why my friends ended up with a Tesla- the price is the price. No dealership bs. Too bad the blinkers are so poorly designed or I'd follow suit.

yeah I'm sick of the BS honestly. Just trying to get info on a car results in dealers hounding me. To be fair, the polestar one has left me alone the most.

Is it OK to use the supplied charger to connect to the dryer outlet for a 240v fast charging? As long as I use the correct converter that fits?

Not always. Some require a dealer to install them as they are so large and/or reprogram the car.

Has anyone actually get 1299+ tax down payment price ( 299/month, 27 month lease ) at any dealers? I just get the offer sheet for a dual motor polestar 2 . Other than misc registration fee and taxes, it has 799$ documentation fee. Monthly lease fee is 335.45/ month. CT tax rate is 6.35% .

It works both ways, I've seen several reports now of people scoring these for <$200/month and <$2k due at signing (this is all in, AFTER taxes and fees).

Comes with 2 plugs, one of them is 240v dryer style.

BYD sells a lot of cars that still run on gasoline though, so yeah if you lump those in they sell more vehicles.

For BEVs only Tesla has outsold BYD every single quarter, ever, with one exception.

No, they aren't.

This was already debunked once, why keep repeating nonsense like this?

BYD actively sells electric busses in the US for example-
https://en.byd.com/total-solutions/

They don't sell passenger cars by their own choice because they find the US market too complicated

(which really translates to they can't get subsidies here like they can in China)

Here's the head of BYD in the US explicitly saying they ONLY aren't selling consumer cars here for that reason-- there is no "ban"
https://electrek.co/2024/02/27/by...ll-evs-us/

You really can't though. At least not any "more" that doesn't debunk most of your original claims.

Tesla has among the lowest rate of physical recalls of any major vehicle brand.

The problem is the antiquated NHTSA rules require them to call an over the air software update a recall.

By that standard your phone gets recalled all the time.

So does your computer.

As to lawsuits, AFAIK Tesla has never, ever, lost a wrongful death lawsuit in any court... In fact I'm only aware of one, ever, they even settled. The few others that exist at all were either thrown out before trial for having no case, or Tesla was simply found not at fault. So again, a much much better record than any other major car brand.

"Reuters reports" is another term for clickbait- what do you think Reuters makes $ on? It's not writing stories about whatever Toyota is up to, despite them being the ones whose EVs were literally recalled for the wheels falling off

It gets even worse when they routinely misreport the details of accidents--- for example remember that crash in Texas where the initial reports were two guys died in a crashed Model S- on autopiloit- with nobody in the drivers seat?

Turns out- autopilot was never on (nor were they even on a street where it COULD be on)-- there WAS a driver in the drivers seat--- and he was drunk as hell and crashed his own car into a tree at high speed.

But people only remember the original report-- not the investigation result that debunked it.

Same deal with the Angela Chao death--- Initial stories were happy to report she was confused by the lack of traditional gear shifter in her Model X, drove backward by accident into a lake, then was trapped in the car with no way out and drown.

Turns out:
She had an older Model X with a standard gear shifter.
The Model X- like all Teslas, has a purely mechanical door release on it that works even if the battery was totally dead (plus of course any sort of normal reaction time would give you plenty of chance to put a window down before power went out)
And guess what the real cause was? She was roughly three times the legal limit drunk-- so she used the traditional shifter to drunkly pick the wrong gear, then drunkly accelerate into a lake, then drunkenly sit there and phone a friend while drowning instead of opening a window or mechanical release on the door to escape the vehicle.

NOTHING about it being a Tesla was relevant to her death other than she likely had -more- time than most people to put the window down... but you can bet that the Tesla killed her was all over the initial headlines!
thanks for the update on that angela chaos death.

no wonder everyone scratching their heads when reading the news. how stupid could she be without any reactions. everyone concluded it was the evs fault for shorted battery.

We test drove one in Minneapolis yesterday. I was skeptical and was only interested because of the lease deal. After test driving I was very impressed with the vehicle. My daughter loved it. The salesman was very nice and very knowledgeable. The car was roomier than I thought plenty of room in back seat area. I was going to get my daughter a Honda cr-v but she likes this one much more. I still want to check out the ioniq 5 because there are some deals on those right now as well. The salesman did say we could use the $2k Costco coupon as part of the down payment. The vehicle also comes with 4 years of complimentary 4gLTE as part of the package according to the salesman. I'm actually thinking of getting my son one also ti use during college. He test drives tomorrow.

Has anyone completed the deal? Does the down and monthly payment advertised include the acquisition fee? That alone is close to another $1k to factor in
Just got mine today. I'm in SoCal.

Got the AWD in white (optional) with the Plus pack (for glass roof and sound system and such).

Forget the total price of the car, but my numbers are pretty good.

Down: $0 (But drive off is $1161 for registration, doc fees, etc, & first month's payment)
Monthly: $441

The $2000 Costco certificate got added to the total discount on the car (so it became $12k off instead of $10k).

This shouldn't really be the case -- Polestar follows a very similar model of selling to Tesla (generally no negotiations and what you see online is what you pay).

Polestar follows the same model of sales as Tesla (as far as I'm aware). Have not had the sales people hound me (have gotten a few emails, but that's it). I don't think they sold my phone or email to other dealerships because otherwise I should have seen a spike in spam emails/calls after I registered interest in the Polestar.

Got mine today in SoCal. Pretty smooth process. Still required to go in and sign papers but nothing like the last time we had to buy a car.

I've driven both, and the Ioniq 5 has more space inside. But I really enjoyed the driving experience of the Polestar, so finally bit the bullet and got one today!

At least in SoCal, they aren't letting the 2k come off the down payment, but is adding it to the discount on the car's total price. Apparently it's better from a tax perspective.
