Just get the cheapest Sonos speakers for surround. No need to spend $300+. Get the Symfonisk from IKEA or some used Play: 1's that are S2 compatible.
Also, if you want to add your Home Theater system to the Sonos Ecosystem, you can add the Sonos Port ($350) to that system.

What I have in my house:
I have the Arc, Sub, Play: 1's in my loft for my "Atmos" setup.
I have some old Play: 1's in stereo pairs in 3 rooms/garage.
Also an old S2 compatible Sonos Connect (Sonos replaced with the Port in their lineup) connecting my living room Home Theater Atmos setup
Everything controlled by the S2 app for multi room audio. Works great once your account is setup and you add your music sources. I can't AirPlay to the connect or Play: 1's, but the S2 app works just fine. Not sure why people complain about no AirPlay… basically same amount of button pushing to use AirPlay vs just using the app.
Edit:
I have no need for Alexa to control my Sonos System. It's clunky at best and not worth getting Sonos One's over Play: 1's IMHO. My Arc supports Alexa, but again… have rarely used it.

I also would like to be able to have it function as a sound Bar for my tv when not streaming silent aerial 4k views via the the smart tube youtube app
is the beam 1 worth it or should I hold out for a beam 2?

I got the mini thinking I could return it if I didnt like it but for my medium size living room, it totally fills it up, And I've kept the bass setting only at 4 !! Don't underestimate the mini sub!
The arc on its own is more than decent (better than the bose soundar I had bought and returned to Costco) but with the sub, its on another level!
