I purchased a 12k "hose-in-hose" Midea unit for my parents last year. It is superior to the single hose, but the inlet and outlet are in the same hose. Some air will mix. In addition, the part that seals in the window is not great. Even with applying foam, there are minor gaps.

All of these portable ACs are terrible when compared to a window AC. If you have a vertical window, you should consider a U shaped window AC. Not only does it cool faster, it's way quieter, doesn't take up any floor space, don't have to worry about dumping condensation water, has better window seal, and you can even open your window if you want to.
Having the dual tube design is very important. One tube for drawing in outside air and one for exhausting the hot air. Looks like a good deal from a great vendor. Congrats on making a good contribution to the site and welcome.
Good price. But I had a unit, broke after 2 months, had an error code that indicated refrigerant leak, god a full refund from Sam's.

How much was it? Is it on sale?
It's $599 at Home Depot. But I purchased a acquired a 15% off coupon, and right now discover has 5% off Home Improvement. I feel like it was worth the little more than $100 extra to get a slightly more powerful unit with a heatpump.

that's helpful. is it okay if i don't need to nail or secure the side rails than? because of the strips, i wouldn't be able to nail the AC stand on the bottom that secure to the right and left of the window.
Honestly, the screws provided and intended for securing to the sides of the window are 1/4" which are quite weak. You may be OK not putting the screws but if at all possible, see if you can drill the holes and try to secure.

Bought this as soon as it was released, 2+ years ago for $600, zero regrets compared to a traditional "non" inverter model. Highly recommend, met all my needs and quiet (in my working office)

I had the same issue with the Toshiba version of this unit. Was great for 2 summers but went to hook it up a few days ago and gave the "EC" refrigerant leak error code. Luckily I bought an extended warranty and got a full refund, but 2 seasons isn't great. I babied the thing and put it in the closet when it wasn't in use. I'm hesitant to buy another portable AC from any brand ATP.
My same model samsung / midea 2 years running flawless and strong. Had to return the 1st one it had condensation water filling like crazy and that "error code". the one i have now: zero condensation and never needed draining.

Have a long way from room to outside . So appreciate if anyone can tell me where to buy extension for dual hose ? Interested to buy as many here are recommending dual hose portable acs
You can have real issues with condensation build-up extending or not keeping the hose in a straight line. Researching this a couple years ago, I wanted a longer hose. All information affirmed not to do it. SO if you extend the hose, and you keep getting water you need to drain and or its throwing codes- then you know why. Hopefully it just works for you. good luck friend!

The trouble isn't with cooling off the immediate room ... it's with sucking warm air into somewhere else in the house. With just an exhaust hose, this unit is pushing air out of the house, which results in that same amount of outside air getting "sucked" back into the house somewhere else. Net-net, there's still an overall cooling effect, but it's not as efficient as if you have a two-hose machine.

I have the old 2 hose system. This is a 2 hose that they integrated into 1 hose by wrapping 2 hoses into an outer hose shell of 1.

I just picked up this unit, on the box the CEER is 14.7, they must have improved the efficiency since since the stock photos shows 12.3 CEER

I just picked one up yesterday at my Sam's. Only 2 there. Maybe I got an old one. Says 12.3 CEER on mine. My Danby from last year is CEER 13.

Anyone got the WiFi app to work? Followed the directions and no go. Seems to self select for Split Type AC even tho it's a portable AC. Not sure what Split Type means.

Purchased it online. You can do some searching or PM me if you want. The coupons are not cheap... 15% ones are like $17, but it was like $90 savings and you also don't pay tax on the savings either....

are there any you recommend that have the heater function?
The heater function on these units are famous for being almost worthless in most cases. Forgetaboutit. However, Ive read someone found where a thermostat is that measures outside air temp and he clipped it off and said the heater function finally worked correctly.

That doesn't match my experience. I have the Toshiba-branded version of this with the heat pump feature. If you have the heat pump version, there are two drain plugs in the back, one for heating and one for cooling, so both modes are certainly capable of producing condensate.

Anyways, I only have used mine for cooling, and I definitely get condensate coming out of the drain plug. But similarly, about a half-liter in a day of use, in a room with about 50% relative humidity. This is in contrast to another old dual-hose portable (different brand) I own, that one seems to throw the condensate onto the hot coil to evaporate it, so hardly anything comes out of the drain plug on that brand....
I have the Toshiba, same thing as the Midea's and my 1st one needed constant draining. I exchanged it. With the new one, now I get ZERO condensate to drain. This is a known issue, problem, with some of these models. If you get condensate, return it. These are designed to blow all the condensate out the hose. One thing, if your hose is not a straight shot or you extend the hose, you might get condensate so its suggested to not extend the hose and keep it straight if you can.
