I bought Lego Star Wars at full price for my 10yo son two years ago when it came out, and it has been his most played game so far. He played it last weekend in fact, and he and a friend can't wait to continue whatever it is they're doing in the game this weekend.
Is the jedi knight outcasts any fun to play? I have a lot of the Lego games for the kids.
I'm biased as someone who grew up playing Jedi Academy on PC (note: not Outcast), but the freedom to train and use a wide range of force powers (mind trick, super speed, lightning, big ol' force jump were some favorites) was truly groundbreaking in 2003, and I hope it holds up. It also let you host hilarious all-powers-on force-power multiplayer matches (or anything else) if you want.
I haven't played these. Which ones are good for a 7/8 year old obsessed with Star Wars?
Lego and Racer are both fun and easy accessible...Republic Commando is a shooter but that one is pretty good too , if they ever play call of duty or any games like that, Republic Commando is good (and appropriate)

Jedi Outcast is a great single player adventure and great story. Academy is the follow up game, and is even better. A lot better!!
Was able to download Knights of the Old Republic game trial for like 5 days for free with Switch Online. FYI
I remember playing this game casually for a couple months when it came out. I ended up giving up about half way through due to getting stuck. It's one of those games where you have to do every single tasks and uncover every hidden objective or you can't move on to the next level. It's a good game, but not for impatient players.
I'm considering Republic commando, but I'm not sure if I should get it on switch or Xbox. Does anyone know if the Xbox version is significantly better performing?

Same as the others have said. Lego SW. I actually played it with him in co-op and he remembers this to this day. I recommend spending that time with your child as it goes by fast. It will be a blessing for both of you.

I'd say the Lego Star wars games are age appropriate
I haven't played it but my son loves all the Lego games
I don't know how these play on Switch. They are much cheaper right now on Steam (for PC)
