I have one of these with a 13900k that I bought for about the same price. And hilariously, almost the exact same comments have been made here as were in that thread.
- It has bad cooling. No, it doesn't. Its really pretty good. Some older alienwares had trouble with it. It isn't a problem at all, and even at full blast its not really that loud either
- You can build your own cheaper. No, you can't. Just the 4090 is challenging to get for under $1800. Its also not a test of manliness. My ten year old built a pc from scratch watching a youtube video.
- Its pRoPrieTaRy. So what. The PS and mobo use proprietary connectors. What are you upgrading from a 1350w power supply and an upper end AM5 board?
The only issue that I've had with it is that the power supply on mine blew, and I've seen a bunch of others with the r15 power supply dying in under a year. Its a delta made supply that's from Dell's server division. So I'd have expected that to be the most bulletproof part. I might get a second year of warranty. But then again, I can buy a replacement power supply for about the cost of the warranty.
Zero regrets about buying it at $2500. I can play every single game that I have at 4k/ultra with lots of ray tracing turned on, at great frame rates. My prior hand built machine was a 12700k and a 3080ti and the alienware smokes that.
That system is better overall but that price was like a 5 hour long pricing mistake and is now $700 higher. If you got it at that price shipping to you, congrats, I dont think you'll ever find a better 4090 high end gaming PC deal.

Here is a lesson in networking - That 10Gig you have going from your desktop to your switch hits a bottle neck at your ISP. So you can brag to your buddies that do not understand the fundamentals of networking, but you are likely not even utilizing 1/10th of that 10G.
The 2.5G NIC is fine.
I think he does have a 10 gig ISP connection based on the "fiber" part of his comment.
My order now shows delayed due to part shortage when I look at the order status under the help menu. My regular order status hasn't yet updated to show this.
I am no longer expecting my order to ship and am likely going to cancel.
I canceled and went for the 7950X deal. I still need to do some transcodes of my BluRay rips and the extra CPU performance will be a significant benefit.
Same here. Revised delivery date is June 5. Called Dell and apparently it's a "processor" shortage. The agent couldn't say whether it was CPU (7900X) or GPU (4090). Cannot swap out an individual part of the order, can only select another pre-built system currently in stock. The agent said many R15 orders are affected and the revised June 5 date is tentative. Told me to call in on May 28 or 29 to get an update on whether there is a further delay. Needless to say this sucks. Even got an email that the rebate has been confirmed, just waiting for system now. Holding out hope!

My date is June 7 (was May 22). Hoping no more delays but also keeping my eye out for other deals just in case.
The current iteration of this only has 32GB ram instead of 64 but has the 7950 instead of the 7900. It's a little less than the system in the OP after the 10% off: https://slickdeals.net/f/17508753. The 10amd coupon doesn't apply anymore but the emailed one does. 12% today for that site that cannot be mentioned, 6% (max $75) for some citi cards and/or 5% (max $100) for some chase cards and $100 for DPAY if you sign up and pay part with the dell cc. A little over $2100 after tax (YMMV) or $2200 if you don't want to deal with dell pay.
Dell customer service waited until my initial day of delivery of my R15 to inform me of another 2 week delay. Ordered on May 10, initial delivery date May 22, new delivery is scheduled on June 4. On the initial delivery day, my Dell Account page indicated that my order hadn't gone into "production". I called, they updated the page. They need to give more advance notice when their parts pipeline is backed up.
It's my first time not building my own. Given the price, it was hard to pass up. Still, I don't like this experience.

Yikes, that's rough. FWIW I've bought a few Dells before and this was not my typical experience. Heck even people over on the Aurora R16 pricing mistake deal got their shipping notices within a day or two.
Seems like for whatever reason Dell took more orders than they can fill on these Ryzen R15's

It is $2800 now, without factoring any discounts.

Nice! I just tried, this is not stackable with the 10% email signup but this is the same discount without having to wait a few hours for the email.

This was silently changed by Dell about a week ago. At the time the deal was posted it really was 64GB.
Just got the shipping email. Revised delivery May 30!
