The 14" has better output between 20-55hz, so it's better for music. The 16" has better output in the subsonic range so it will be better for movies.

Overall, the 14" already has very good power, great extension, and is the best value as it's currently competing with other $1,000-$1,500 subs on the market. It's also about the biggest subwoofer I can pick up and carry myself, I probably wouldn't be able to get my arms under/around the 16" to pick it up off the ground and move it across the house if needed as it's quite a bit bigger (120L vs. 168L) and you can't slide these subs on their rubber feet.

Here is the frequency response comparison between the RP-1400 and RP-1600 (check the 4th image at the top): https://www.reddit.com/r/homethea...subs_from/
I have two 1400sw and there is no port chuffing...as many reviewers would agree. Where are you getting this conclusion?
These subs are being sold at extremely high discounts because inflated MSRP + massive discount is Klipsch's standard M.O.

Damn! If I hadn't bought the 14" @ $699, I'd jump all over this.

Is it really worth another $300 for an even bigger box? Asking genuinely as I've been waffling over the 14 and everyone was glowing about how it's the best

Just logged into my Adorama account and I see I have 726 points reward points, which means I can redeem $5 for a discount. This is really tempting, especially when I can redeem those points.

Depends on the room size. What are the room dimensions?

I've lurked here for a while and often see this deal from Adorama.

If memory serves, I always see comments about something wrong with purchasing this from Adorama. Whether it be shipping nightmares, retailer credit instead of refunds, etc.

Just mentioning it...

I picked up two of these when adorama ran the sale a few weeks ago. The boxes arrived dinged up, but the speakers themselves are well packed in there and were in good condition. The sub itself is impressive, but the size of this thing is no joke. It could easily be a side table. I only have one hooked up at the moment, but it is doing a pretty good job filling up a 25'x25'x10' room. Waiting on a wireless kit to get #2 installed.

These subwoofers are being sold at these extremely high discounts due to significant port chuffing at even moderate volumes when playing the low frequencies, which is where the subwoofer is most active.

They were released with a lot of fanfare to tackle other brands like SVS, but sadly the port chuffing is significant. I expect these to be redesigned in the not so distant future.

Bullshit. I've never seen anyone claim their RP sub port chuffs, and I read every thread on AVS forums. It's actually a huge advantage that these subs have over other subs with circular ports.

Yeah, That guy is spewing FUD... have had my 1400's maxed an not an ounce of chuffing. As a matter a fact, these subs where designed to counteract port chuffing:

FRONT-FIRING SLOT PORT WITH EXCLUSIVE INTERNAL FLARE TECHNOLOGY

Proprietary internal geometry with a new Aerofoil slot port design minimizes port noise for clean undistorted low frequencies. The front-firing design allows for placement flexibility.

While these subs are greatly improved over the previous model which could easily be coerced into chuffing, the newer model does use flared ports to help but not eliminate this issue. You can still make it chuff but not as easily and has been noted in various owners thread.

What disappoints me the most is pricing. For a new model the discount level of almost 50% does indicate the real price point / value of this sub. Good overall performance but does lack the level of adjustment that other subs offer. digging deeper inside you will find that the construction items like bracing are not up to other more expensive subs, so definitely built to a price point.
