Hi , Can you tell me which one you used to make the expansion? Thanks
Battery life is about the best you're going to find in a gaming laptop and one of the few that can reasonably be expected to last all day. Everything else is pretty good. There are better choices if you're planning to use it primarily as a desktop replacement but not really better choices at this screen size if you are actually using it as a laptop. It's primary competition is the Lenovo Legion.
Do you have any recommendations for a desktop in this price range with similar or better performance? Thanks
Essentially the larger and less portable the laptop the better value you'll get performance and ports wise if it's going to sit on a desk all the time. The smaller and longer the battery life the worse an option as a desktop replacement.
If you actually just want a desktop then you'll save a lot of money buying that instead of a laptop as a desktop. Performance wise desktop components from several generations ago will still outperform top of the line mobile options.
Once escalated the claims were still honored which indicates this is poor understanding or poor training of first level support not company policy.
Having worked at large tech companies when policies have changed even with just minimal wording changes or asking to do something like "no longer replace due to end user intentional modification" becoming "no longer replace any damaged equipment" in first level supports minds or their managers minds is extremely common. That dispute or escalation resolves the issue indicates it is not a policy. That your examples all include actual damage and shipping issues is pretty telling in this regard.
Sorry just saw your reply and sorry another long rant.
I agree their first tier is shit and they will default to "customer induced damage" please pay an arm or leg. However their escalations are also shit and usually leads to being passed around multiple departments or being completely ignored.
Their RMA shipping return policy is basically go through them to save money (they're actually more expensive) or ship it yourselves.
In regards to monitor, yes they finally replaced it, but this was after they poorly shipped it back then tried to charge me for a new one. I've escalated multiple times. Completely shitty experience.
Motherboard, I called in, follow their instructions to a T and they still tried to charge me lol. They wouldn't even pay for my shipping for their own fault. Again shit experience.
GPU, warranty was never honored. The damage to the HDMI port was after they received it, there's no way shipping would've damage the port. But their RMA department defaulted to upcharging $1100 for a 3080 Strix. I escalated to multiple teams and they refuse to troubleshoot or diagnose the original issue, even though I have proof that there were no HDMI damage prior to shipping. They defaulted to "please reach out to your courier and submit a claim, we will assist where we can". I attempted and all I needed was the picture of shipping box with the label, so I can submit the claim but they couldn't provide it.
My argument was that the GPU was not broken because of the HDMI port, can they still honor the RMA? They refused to work on it and blamed UPS, even though they even said there's no damage to the box so they didn't take or provide pictures.
This wasn't a level 1 support issue. This was just blatant refusal to troubleshoot and denying any RMA claim. I was sent around to multiple teams trying to dispute.
I worked with many RMA departments and I have never needed to fight tooth and nail like I have with Asus. Gigabyte and MSI actual diagnose the issue, they would point out any damages, but if I can prove that if I sent it in without the damage then they will continue to troubleshoot, which is normal for every company, but Asus.
So yeah I don't understand how an RMA department, tier 1 can immediately just go to "this has cosmetic damage, please pay 2-4x retail price to get it fixed"
Sorry long rant, but just wantes to provide even more details. I have all the email threads with Asus and their comical repair quotes for damages they inflicted...
