No code required, just needs to have the cart in the system to download and play.
Konami was probably just cheaping out on Nintendo's fees and went with a smaller cartridge.
Also nothing downloads to the cartridge. It's all on the SD card but you need the cartridge to verify you own the game. In a sense it's somewhat worse that the download code option as you still need the cartridge despite having the entire game on the system.

It's runs perfectly fine on the switch not docked and undocked. Haven't had any problems at all in the month I've had it. Having all these portable is well worth $20. Great trilogy.

The remake for MGS3 isn't out yet, there is no remake of MGS2, and the remake of MGS1 is inferior to the original. So no, not even close.
Even after pointing out that it's not a daily deal that it expires May 25th. They wouldn't budge. Was hoping to get an Xbox copy for myself and a PS5 copy for a cousin of mine who loves Metal Gear.
Already went to Amazon and submitted found item at a lower price. Hoping they would match it. But price hasn't changed.
- Metal Gear (MSX)
- Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake
- Metal Gear (NES)
- Snake's Revenge
That means Metal Gear Solid 1, 2, and 3 must be downloaded. The back of the Nintendo Switch box confirms the game requires a download of at least 32GB, and a microSD card is required.
I tried to find but couldn't find the answer anywhere... Does anyone know if all of the data for the games is on the game disc for Xbox? What about PlayStation.
