Where are these made? I bought a few 200 piece sets 10 years ago on $100 deals and all the parts are made in the USA

Quote from Johnybrk :
Used the lawnmower for 4 years without any issues. The mowing deck being metal ran through rocks and branches without any issues. Only complaint was the wheels were a bit too slick on wet grass or going up a hill. I had the 7.5Ah battery and saw no diminished run time. I wanted to get a few extra tools and smaller battery for weed eater, chainsaw but could not find the tools or batteries anymore at a decent price. Sold the mower not long ago as i did not want to have one tool and battery for landscaping when everything else is in Ryobi ecosystem.
I still have my original one running fine. They sent a whole new lawnmower when I did a warranty call on the battery for it. I haven't used the new mower yet. I got the one without self-propelled wheels, which came with the 5.0Ah to begin with. The other two tools' batteries also died. They sent a 20V trimmer, gotta get rid of that, and I didn't bother with the last one because I was busy with something or other and now it's past 4 years.

Hopefully if anyone else reads this, CubCadet has compatible batteries. They still sold them at least a few months ago. $100 per 5.0Ah, so I bought two. Cheaper than getting a different mower and chainsaw, and I have a new mower for when this one dies. I just exchanged the plastic top of the new CubCadet for the ones from the Craftsman.

How an iconic store can go bust. All my memories with sears. Nostalgic. All those SYWR points making my tool box, one tool at a time for free.

Nothing but craftsman in my tool chest !!
They've gone bust because they were bought out by someone who was more interested in their real estate portfolio than their market share. Sears owned the vast majority of the property their full line stores were on - including most mall locations - and those have been turned in to revenue streams for their dictator CEO.

The last time any store had an update was before Sears was bought out by Kmart and Eddie Lampert, and that is not just a coincidence.

Ok I have to try this with my Husky box, I eventually want to do the "pretty" foam inserts but if these fit then I am good to go!

If you don't know much about sockets this may look like a great deal but 12-point sockets are not useful. You don't see 12 sided bolts and the wrenches already rotate. 12-point sockets will strip your nuts so they are pretty useless, especially on cars and such.

I agree with all the other comments about Craftsman. I got a 260-pc set from Sears 14 years ago for $144. All made in USA stuff back then. I had to exchange the 3/8" ratchet under warranty a few years ago, and the replacement is no longer made in USA. Lowe's was also very confused about how to handle the warranty exchange. Sad, really. All my power tools are Craftsman, too, but I'm thinking it may be time to transition to another ecosystem.

This is not a criticism of this set in particular, but I don't think I have ever seen a "mechanic's set" (even ones with 400+ pieces) that include a torque wrench. Or a breaker bar.

This set is made in China. It's not a great set. It works, but it will not last long.

Can't speak much for the warranty process as I haven't broke anything but this kit is more complete, cheaper and less filler tools.

10 years ago? No. They started phasing out USA made hand tools around 2009, definitely gone for all but the pro sets by 2011

There are plenty of other good quality durable (DeWalt, Husky, etc) 140-200 piece sets with just as many useful sockets and spanners as this set has, except those cost less and don't include all the trash filler screwdriver bits like this set has. The description says this has a total of 148 screwdriver bits and hex keys to bulk up their number to make it seem like a lot of tools lol! The 192pc DeWalt set sometimes goes on sale for $89 or $99 so that's my favorite set. I own 1 of those and a 150-ish piece DeWalt set, as well as a 110-ish piece Husky and a 90-ish piece Husky set. All of these are considerably more compact and easier to carry than this Craftsman set. I was also surprised to hear Sears was still around...clearly they won't be for long though.

Home depo owns husky, so unless they go under like Sears.... you'd be safe

Should remove this post. If you order the set, Sears will immediately cancel your order claiming an issue with your payment method and give you a number to call. They will ask you a few questions and tell you you can reorder it and it will go through...it won't. Even with a good payment method or trying another such as PayPal. It felt really like a scam as the phone you call is someone with a thick Indian accent, but I checked the number and it does appear to be Sears. Nonetheless, I tried 4 times with different valid payment methods and it was cancelled every time.
