When this monitor came up last time, i ended up buying both it and the very similar model that Staples had for the same price. At the time, the consensus seemed to be that the Staples monitor which has a built in docking station, speakers, a slightly different curvature and a height adjustable stand was a better deal and I ultimately agree. While most of those features didn't matter for my personal office use, they were highly beneficial for my wife's office use, so we kept both.

Another factor that came up was that LG takes forever to ship this monitor (took almost 3 weeks for the one I ordered). While staples will have the other one at your door in a couple days and if something is wrong with it when it arrives, you can return it to a store which is a huge benefit over trying to get LG to RMA this model.

The staples one is also still available at the same $250 price, so if that one is better for you, I'd highly recommend it instead.

This one gave me some issues with resolution when plugged in to a Dell AIO to use as a second monitor. Windows will not allow me to set the resolution to 3440x1440. It stays at some odd 1080p resolution and just looks kind of bad since it's so stretched out.

Not sure how to fix it either.

My dell dock won't support 1440p. But when plugged directly into HDMI I can get up to 4K no issues

I have it plugged directly in to the Dell desktop's HDMI port as well. The monitor came with DP and USB-C but guess what ports my Dell doesn't have?

Oof, well a DP to HDMI cable should work.

For parents buying this for their 'gaming' kids. DO NOT BUY. The 60Hz refresh rate will not be enjoyable for them.

I ordered this in the last deal and have had it for about a month. I had prepared to be disappointed for such a low price (but held out hope for it being LG as they make their own panels) but in the end could not be more blown away. Incredibly sharp, color is solid, etc. etc. 1000% a steal for office and/or productivity work. AND frankly maybe I'm old school, but you can game on this for most genres, just not ideal for 1st or 3rd person shooters. RTS would be just fine.

Good comments about the one with the built in dock (from staples?). I use this for a mix of work/home and my work laptop is a power hog, requiring 200+ watt PS so I already have an overpriced dock setup work provided for me and just needed the display. In short, from a image quality standpoint, very, very solid display, tempted to buy a 2nd at this price even though I have no need for it.

60hz is a no go. Even if you don't game I would never go below 120 ever again, it's night and day.

60hz is completely fine for office work and regular computer stuff. Even gaming is fine, but I definitely want to game >120hz.

The answer to that is complicated, because it depends on which of my family's home office setups it would be used for.

For my wife's office setup, the one from Staples would still be better at $250 than this one would be at $200, because: she needs the height adjustment, the USB-C dock is perfect for her work laptop and having speakers built in are all benefits for her and worth $50 on their own.

For my office setup, the one shipped from LG would be great if you can get it for 200. I use a VESA mount for my monitor, my work laptop requires a 200w power supply and I have the audio from the computer piped through a surround sound system. So the USB-C dock, stand and speakers are all wasted features for my use.

The display on the two monitors is otherwise the same, so it really just comes down to your needs. If the dock, stand and speakers aren't useful for you, then by all means go with this one, if you're somehow able to get it for 200.

Super helpful!

Thanks! Using the edu and then extra 10% off I can get it down close to $200. More like $202.

Thank you thank you! So interesting that you can get the sand monitor with extra stuff for the same price.

But even for your wife's you can Mount it if you want, correct?

Plus, most of us paid sub $200 through various coupon/CB methods. Mine was 160-170, so the decision was easy to go Staples.
Excluding Rewards, what coupons/CB % was and to take it that low? Did it also have a lower starting price than $250?
