Imo this thing is DOA unless you want a simple tablet for browsing and light/medium gaming.

Does Toolbox work on this at all to kill bloat and install Google Play though?
The initial/launch firmware could be used with Toolbox, but I believe an updated firmware now prevents or hinders its use. I have two 11max and use toolbox to prevent updates.
The Max 11 has a slightly larger screen and slightly faster processor and has 4GB RAM when compared to the HD 10. The $140 price is the lowest so far for the Max 11. However there are many more tablet options at the $140 price point compared to the Fire 10 HD at the $75 price point.
