Thank you, but you made a mistake. Lenovo PSREF [lenovo.com] (Part Number : 82QD00DHUS) says 8GB Soldered DDR4-3200 and one DDR4 SO-DIMM slot so memory IS UPGRADABLE.
I believe you have replied to a wrong post (which should be here)

I have a Target version. Solid laptop. The 12gen I3 is great. My version has a fingerprint scanner - meh. I was never a fan of touch screens on a laptop but if you like it it will be good. Mine has an on board SSD with an open M.2 slot. I am an Excel/Access user with no problems. At this price point it is a solid buy.

Added a 32gb 3200 RAM module and the system recognizes 40 gb total. Replaced the shorter 256gb NVME SSD with a full-length 1TB NVME SSD after cloning the whole drive.
It takes a T5 screwdriver to remove 6 long and 4 short screws. Had to use a plastic pry tool to unclip the bottom cover after T5 screws were removed.
The screen at full brightness looks the same as a 250-nit screen side by side, even though the spec says 300-nit.

open edge, download firefox, open the installer, you will get a prompt that says you can't install other apps with Win S, it's gonna ask you to switch, say ok and follow the screen instructions. Takes 10 secs.
Thank you.

Can someone also tell me how to create an account without internet access?

you mean a microsoft account to set up windows?
If you want to set up windows without using an account, turn off your wifi and press back and you should be able to set up with a local account.

Thanks. I turned off mine but It keep finding neighbors Wi-Fi and doesn't give me any option to go back or anything to create a local account.
I googled a lot and some people say to press shift and f10 to get a command prompt to run some commands to get a local account but I can't even get it to open a command prompt

For those that added 16gb of ram, did you have to do anything special? When I add the ram, the laptop powers on, but does not boot. When I take out the Ram, it boots fine.

I picked up this:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08C511GQH

Is there anything I need to do prior to installing it?

After RAM upgrade, it's normally taking 20-30 seconds extra (black screen) for the first boot-up (for BIOS to check new parts) ... the crucial stick looks fine, please retry, wait and see

I have set up more than 10 new laptops in last 2 years.
Some: can bypass by (shift) F10
Some: have the option to skip wifi connection
Some: neither of the the above work, then I had no choice but to use a dummy MS account to set up windows first, then remove the linkage afterwards....

If needed, you may consider to use a smartphone/tablet to create a dummy MS account first.

If anyone is looking to extend the Warranty, Lenovo has it on sale for $11 for extra 11 months with the SCHOOL20 coupon.

BTW, the screen definitely doesn't look like it is 300 nits, more like 250 I would say.

Thanks! Ugh. I returned the memory and dropped down to 8GB to see if that was the cause. Same thing happened, but this time I hit CTRL ALT DLT and it rebooted. I'm pretty confident that if I had just waited as you say, it would have been fine.

At least I know now that if I need to, I can bump it. haha.

Thanks again!

It's been $280 on multiple occasions. So yeah, just wait. I am sure it'll be back at least at that price point if not lower as the CPU ages.
