I've found it's also critical to do the warm up procedure or whatever you'd call it in the instructions where you twist the torque from max to min three times. Without that I've had them fail to click a few times.

They actually are pretty accurate, but they sometimes don't noticeably click when the set torque is reached.

Nice deal. Got both 1/2 and 3/8 for $12 each.

After some testing, 3/8 is not as accurate as I want. The clicks are very subtle at 20 ft lb as some folks said before and the actual torque is about 23. The rating on 3/8 is also much lower on HF website vs. 1/2. 1/2 has much better build quality. The website says 10-150 ft lb but the box says 20-150. I'll keep the 1/2 and return 3/8.

There's the others 1/4" and 1/2" drive as well. These are fairly accurate for what they are. If you're going crazy with torquing things all the time, buy something like a Snap-on but for the home user, these are great.

Calibrate your torque wrench. Most likely that is why it is not clicking. If you're unsure about how the tool works, I'm sure they would help you at Harbor Freight or maybe watch some YT videos could be helpful.
In my experience, the click on these Pittsburgh Pros is more subtle than some of the other wrenches I've used (Quinn, Wera), especially at low torques.

+/- 10% - which is okay for most applications. Not sure I'd use this for sensitive components - I snapped off a scope ring nut using one of these when it didn't click or register the torque, but they're totally fine for doing wheel lug nuts, etc..
Just came here to add that I pulled threads out of my 1995 Honda Accord engine block about 15 years ago, with the torque setting under spec by 20ft-lbs. Upgraded myself to some craftsman (3/8th and 1/4" from Sears) and a Kobalt (1/2" for bigger stuff, up to 250lb-ft) and haven't broken threads on anything since... I don't work daily with automotive, but I have replaced a couple of engines and transmissions in passenger cars and light duty trucks. For anything sensitive or critical, as others have already said, the torque wrench isn't the tool to cheap out on.

I have multiple HF torque wrenches, wanted to replace with better ones, but can't- these suckers are as accurate as $80 brand names, so no need. Used to be Taiwan made, can't speak of today

The Quinn 3/8 is on sale now, FWIW. …CORRECTION - Quinn discount ended yesterday

These are cheap torque wrenches and have some drawbacks, but the fact that you can get a relatively accurate and pretty reliable torque wrench for $12 is amazing. That it has a lifetime warranty is even more astounding. Tools like this used to be much less attainable to the DIYer. I've seen torque wrench reviews on YT show these having reasonable accuracy after ~100 cycles.

I just replaced my Pittsburgh Pro, under warranty, but it got me started and opened the door to lots of repairs that would have been uncomfortable to do otherwise. It's a great starter wrench and adequate for continued use if you're willing to test it occasionally
