Have been going back and forth between this and the Denon AVR-X3800H and was about to pull the trigger the RZ50 on Amazon for $999 tonight before I saw this. In for 1, thanks!

Anyone know if the stereo mode bass has been fixed in an update or something? I could never get the bass right in stereo. It would not allow the subwoofer to be turned on. I enjoy movies and music. All the other listening music modes just didn't sound great.
Do you use Dirac?

there are some listening modes like Pure audio that specifically disable features such as sub output signal (this is an intentional setting). if you select the quick menu button and it should highlight any adjustment / sound EQ options that are available in the specific mode you have selected, including sub level. also check page 172 of the manual for more sub troubleshooting info (Like L/R being set to full range).

Last year I auditioned this, Yahama A6A and 3800, Yamaha won by hair vs Onkyo. 3800 lagged - sound quality to me was a step behind. I calibrated all systems with Room EQ but did not pay extra for Denon Dirac. Did pay 20 for the App though. I think at this price Onkyo is a big winner.
every professional reviewer (as well as most amateurs on this and other AV forums) have the same sentiment that Dirac is the best RC software at this price range and gives the best performance per dollar.

Tempting this brand new at 799 or Denon X3800 refurbished at $975.
Don't forget to add in the cost of the Dirac license and calibration mic if you buy the Denon as that will get you the best results.

This is a good example on what you read doesn't necessarily determine who wins upon audition/listening!
Then you add at this price makes it so much more complicated!

The one that is said to have the worse RC won/beat the one that includes one portion of the "best" and the other that includes a comparable RC(to the best) and offers all of the "best"(not just a portion)!? 🤷🏻 ♂️

I auditioned both within my 9.2.4 setup.
The 3800 was much easier to set up(don't lose sub/bass integration).

Ultimately I definitely preferred the 3800, it does come down to that TBH.

When I added DL/DLBC it was no contest but imo DLBC is what separates itself from Audyssey even if it's a slight difference.

Keep in mind I am very comfortable using both RCs and calibration.

I will say if you plan on just using the internal amps the RZ50 can have a slight edge.
Keep in mind if that's the case you're better off getting the 7100 for $550, audibly there really is no difference.

Hope that helps.

Thank you will wait for 7100 then, but have not seen it on sale recently.

Probably a horse apiece. Same feature set. A few more legacy connections and some extra power / control features.

Only a few differences, one obvious one is this can process 11 channels the 3.4 only 9.
Here is a comparison.

$100 difference from Adorama. I wonder how's sounds different from the twos of them?

Unless the $100 is significant to you I would get this one. More horsepower and features. I think its worth the extra $100, but the Integra would be a fine choice too.

They sound similar, which one you would prefer, you would have to listen.

The bigger question is are the extra features worth the extra $100.
If not pocket the $100 and enjoy imo.

I was hit hard by Onkyo's capacitor issues with the HDMI board. I had three in three different rooms and was "out of service" on 1-2 of them for several months at a time. The first one that went was hell getting them to fix it. The 2nd was a little better. The third, they refused to cover, and I had to order the parts online and solder it up myself. Not sure what people would've done with $700 receiver if they didn't know how to fix it themselves, but I'm sure they would've either chucked it (at a huge loss), or paid some independent shop to fix it. I also fixed a few Onkyos with the same issue for friends/family.

I've since switched to Denon and never looked back. Much, MUCH better customer service (on the few minor things I've needed to call for) and all around just a better product with better logic for menus and such. My crown jewel is the Denon AVR-X4700H. I paid a lot more than this receiver, and it's not really a comparison, but I can't imagine paying nearly $1800 for an Onkyo after that fiasco.

I understand, shi.... err, stuff happens. But how a company handles it when it does matters. I don't feel Onkyo handled it in the best way. I'm actually surprised they're still in business.

Ended up purchasing this for my living room 3.2.2. Will eventually make this to 5.2.4. Figured the power would be good for my Polk reserves front stage.
