Let be clear on their unlocking policy. There is 365 days waiting time, and also the phone should have service for 180 days within 365 days. This is per my recent conversation with their customer service agent.
Please remember that their unlock policy criteria does not specify automatic unlock regardless of the service time.

You're missing the point here. 99% of us only want to pay $125 1x to get the phone. You want to pay $70 a month for 2 years. Not us😀

You didn't have an error on the third order?
I tried the third iPhone and I got the "please contact us to complete your order" message.

Since Google Voice number takes a while to port - should it be a concern that Metro would charge us full price if it failed to port successfully?

Also, how does one transfer the eSIM to another phone? Planning on trading in the iPhone 12 soon and would love to just use the service on the another phone.

I got my first Iphone 12 for $125 and now planning to get another iphone 12 and porting my GV number. The total is now showing $89.74 if I purchased this, will I be stuck on paying $35 monthly or just it will be cancelled just make sure the auto payment / renew was off?

Here's the cost to add your new device plan.
You'll see the following changes in your cart.
$35 /mo.
Additional line on Metro Flex Plus $70/mo. with AutoPay $75 for 1st month

Any line you don't pay will auto cancel. That total should be it for 2nd iPhone.

Hmmm... if a number qualified to be ported in when checking out turns out to not be transferable for some reason during activation, was does Metro do in that case? Remove the discount and charge for the difference, or maybe some other result?

Doesn't comes with one. Uses esim

You activate the phone online. Can look up with order number

Google metro activation esim online

How did you do the 3rd? Did you have to use a different address or credit card?

To transfer esim to another phone, you can do that on their app.

Won't it be better to go with Total Wireless? Their iPhone 12 is $180 plus two months of $50 per month total $280 to get it unlock?
Yes, if you want to use it as an unlocked phone this may be better. This one worked before when you could just store it in the drawer for 6 months. Now this is best if you like Metro or you use the device for a trade in elsewhere.

I stayed at 2.
The third wasn't working
Didn't try again
Others stated 4 may be the limit. But it appears for every new order first you need to activate prior orders and register them and likely delete the cookies and try a different browser and/or order from a different IP, e.g. try from coffee shop or at work etc. there is some randomness at work, it's a bit of a mystery what works and what fails. It's not personal.
Just try again 24h later with a different order from phone/tablet/laptop and/or different browser or order from neighbor/work/coffee shop.
Otherwise try again in 3/6 months with a new deal.
