got these a few years ago for my LG c1.

will constantly fail audio control through hdmi cec. I have to do a whole "turn off the tv and wait 1 minute and turn it back on" song and dance. don't know how to resolve it, the speakers are updated to the latest firmware.

other than that, they are fantastic. paired them with a RSL speedwoofer 10e, and although these really can be sufficient without a subwoofer, a good sub really brings everything to life.

settled on these after being utterly disappointed with the sonos ARC. joke of a product, you NEED a sub with those. not to mention that the klipsch's physical separation does more for the audio than software separation.

the fives with the speedwoofer 10e cost less than the sonos arc by itself. think about that. when sonos goes under, the ARC will probably stop working. my klipsch speakers will always remain speakers.
Using the walnut version with our 83" LG C2. Love them. Minimal footprint and sounds excellent.

The job of a speaker is to reproduce sound accurately. The 5s and 7s do so poorly, with the messed up frequency response so common to Klipsch. The 9s aren't big. They're just bookshelves. If you want to put 5s on your tiny desk, go ahead, but for 400 bucks, you can do better. Klipsch go on sale now and then, so I paid 750 for the nines, which are much more than twice as good as the 5s, with deeper bass and more power too.

Better speakers also create wider areas with even frequency response, which makes them sound better in almost every room.

Also, these Klipsch come with their own wires, straight from the manufacturer. One is plugged in and the other pulls it's power from its mate.
I just got these, they have pretty good bass. These are not that bright. I honestly switched back to my ayima amp and triangle borea br02s

These look nice and the update process was dumb. You have to use a usb flash drive and then connect your phone using a separate updater app

For bass, Fives are good to 70Hz then rolling off. Falling steeply after 60Hz. That's better than a lot of trash, but it's 400 bucks, and I'd rather get something better. I'd be more worried about the brightness, which may not be as bad as some Klipsch but is far from what I'd want to spend my money on. But I got more speakers than sense at this point.

Depends on the specific use, of course, but sitting at a desk with a computer? These would be nice:

Or better yet, a pair of JBL 308P, though those above are smaller if not as good.

Care about all the lifetime features? Then I'd probably get a HomePod.

There are many options circa $400. Klipsch has a lot of features for the buck, but they've always been the bargain brand. Only rarely do they have quality too.

It might not be your Klipsch but the LG TVs ARC implementation. I have a C2 and it's been nothing but issues trying to use ARC with my Denon receiver and I tried the same receiver with no issues with a Samsung TV so narrowed it down to the LG OLED being the issue. I gave up a long time ago on ARC and just use an optical cable. I probably spent over 10 hours over a few weeks trying every troubleshooting step out there including multiple resets of every device.
Also was having audio issues with arc on c2 and a denon receiver. Someone suggested turning on the TV 1st before anything else (shield TV and Xbox in my case), which solved my problem and never had any issues since.

Will they go into a low power mode, or similar, if they aren't receiving a signal?

If connected via Optical can I control the volume through the TV or will I have to use their remote (want to minimize remotes)

There's a setting to enable auto-power off on no signal after 15 minutes.

Optical only carries audio signals (it's not like ARC).. However, I just turn the speaker itself all the way up, and then use the source to control the volume. Works well.

Any recommendations for a sub $120 or less to go with these?
