I have an eero router. I catch my 5 GHZ devices on 2.4 GHZ almost every day. I then speed test it with wifiman and after a few tries it generally switches.

Doesn't the eero ecosystem have multiple features that are supposed to be standard behind subscription paywall?

I am currently using the Xfinity modem/WiFi router + xpods throughout the house. If I am to get this eero set, I guessing one of them needs to be hard-connected to the modem and broadcast signal to the other two? If not, please advise.

Eh. I have an eero 6 pro and WiFi speeds are pathetic. I don't know how they advertise gigabit WiFi. I had a Google nest WiFi that maxed out my 500mbps speeds more consistently

It is preferred to use wired Ethernet between the gateway eero and the two other nodes. But if that isn't practical, wi-fi for the backhaul works OK too.

Personally, I'd spring for the Pro 6E instead of this one. If your house is not big with dead spots, a single eero may be all you need.

Know that eero has the philosophy that the router should just work all the time and you should never have to worry your pretty little head looking at diagnostics and error logs, etc. If that sounds good, get the eero. If you need to tweak your router to the max and have transparency to the inner workings, eero is not for you. I used to own a networking consulting company so I am certainly not a novice, but I love eero.

Thanks for the advise. The Pro 6E is the one I am eyeing for. Let see if it will be on sale on Prime day.
