Auto defrost works by heating the freezer to defrost....

So food lasts longer and doesn't get freezer burn as quickly if you have a manual defrost freezer that doesn't do that heating cycle.

Shipping for freezers suck. I ordered similar size freezers twice from Home Depot and both times they came severely dented. One time was local delivery and the other time was FedEx.

I've owned the one with the drawers from Costco for just about a month now. Downsized from a ~16 cu ft but so far haven't noticed much of a difference. The drawers makes things efficient as long as you don't freeze very large items
