Auto defrost works by heating the freezer to defrost....

So food lasts longer and doesn't get freezer burn as quickly if you have a manual defrost freezer that doesn't do that heating cycle.

Shipping for freezers suck. I ordered similar size freezers twice from Home Depot and both times they came severely dented. One time was local delivery and the other time was FedEx.

YW! I think this deal is super slick, especially for a "garage ready" refrigerator -> freezer!

*Freezer

Debating on picking this one up, or the one at costco with the drawers.
The freezer in Costco with all drawers has 1 or 2 drawers at the bottom that's refrigerator not freezer. That's a dealbreaker for me.

I've owned the one with the drawers from Costco for just about a month now. Downsized from a ~16 cu ft but so far haven't noticed much of a difference. The drawers makes things efficient as long as you don't freeze very large items
These shelves look like they can't be moved, so can't put very large items in this either. I think I'd like the drawers better, as I could label them to find things easier.

Sam's club sells one similar to this on their website for $249 that has glass shelves and drawers And can be a fridge or freezer. For some reason, it has a small separate compartment at top. The description Doesn't really explain that.

The Hamilton Beach at Costco (1466477) is all plastic drawers, and they are all freezer.

Umm it's not actually Garage Ready though? Recommended operating temps 60-90*F, i.e. indoors. Mentioned also by tons of reviews.

It's a shame as I actually am in the market for an actual garage ready manual defrost upright freezer.
The graphic says 0-110F temperature range.

Anyone who got it back in May care to share your thoughts on it so far?
I got it back in May. Great upright freezer. Works great. Haven't had a need to defrost it. Haven't had any issues with it. I recommend it.

Mine is in the garage. No issues, however I am in California.

I think they're removable wire shelves. I'll try to check this week

That was a concern of mine as well. Would like to be able to sore like up to a 20lb turkey for thanksgiving, or a ham, racks of ribs stuff like that. Thats why I am hesitant on the drawers.

So weird, I'm going off the actual manual of the listed model number. And reviews of this model number (not necessarily off the Walmart site).

The OP's item is an upright freezer, yours is a chest freezer. Quite different. Chest freezers are more energy efficient, but it's harder to access stuff that is at the bottom of a pile of other things.
