I have one of these or something very similar. I forgot what I paid. I'm honestly not sure if this is a slick dead or not. But I will say that in a year or two I've gotten more than $40 worth of value out of mine. In fact I might get a second one for being able to have one long two-piece platform.

I paid $19 for this platform - 11/25/2016, which was a LONG time ago (I pulled the receipt because I couldn't remember, I just thought it was a lot less than $40). It's super useful. I need another. I'm holding out for a lower price but if it doesn't drop lower on the next sales, $40 is fine due to the functionality.

Looks like the last few sales prices per SD were $50-60... It hasn't been below $40 since 2021.

A super key item to have when painting your house or doing other tasks that require moving a step stool around. Hightly recommend for any DIYer. Thinking about buying a 2nd one. Thanks slickdeals.

Love mine. Totally worth the $40. Must have if you do work around the house or frequent Mardi Gras parades.

I saw 39.88 free shipping, but as soon as I went to checkout it was back to 74.99. I had to select in-store pickup to purchase at the reduced price. At that price I don't mind having to go to the store.

Have one of these and the Werner, paid about $20 for both of them several years ago. The Gorilla is superior as it folds to a far more compact size. I'd pay $40 for the Gorilla if I needed another, less for the Werner.

I've had two for years. It's definitely gotten TONS of usage.

Plus, these double as benches. They're great for kid seats.

Anybody has any experience with the adjustable height one? Is it better or just too heavy to lug around? This one is 11lb and the adjustabe one is 27lb so more than double the weight

This would be great for 8 foot ceilings (you can reach the ceiling) but doesnt work for 10 foot ceilings. An extra 2 feet needed and they only sell ones that are a foot taller and that one isnt on sale.
They make a mini scaffold (rolling) for DIY's to reach ceilings with, about $129 at lowes. I would advise if you are going that far to get a baker's scaffold (not huge but not mini either). You can even buy a motor for some versions. I've used lots of stuff, but the flatter the surface you are on the more comfy it is. Ladder work is good for developing your claves, if your into that. I rather they not ache after a couple of days of that nonsense (I'm no spring chicken anymore). I wouldn't advise the avg homeowner to invest in a stage/pic unless they have a huge house.

I'm happy to see all the top comments saying they might buy a second lol because that's exactly what I did. I've gotten so much use out of the one I bought on here years ago.

Just my 2c. I've painted many ceiling and walls using the old move the step ladder around technique. Yes it took longer, but it's not like I repaint every month. In hindsight, it would have been useful to have one, until you reach the edge and have to move it around also. For other uses that may be tight, it'll be too long. For $40, and supposedly great for people that do stuff, you might have materials to build one or longer out of 2x4's. Granted I'm 135lbs, but as long as you make it stable and not jump around on it... At $25 (I was around during that SD time) I would still think about it, especially finding another spot for it to live when not in use.

Only downside is shortly after I got it, one of the leg locks started "sticking", meaning that I have to double check that its locked, lest I step on it wrong or shift weight and cause it to collapse.
That sounds like a perfectly reasonable use case for the warranty

Don't think about it. Just purchase. Best use case is when painting. Put two side by side, so you can walk from one to the other when cutting. Saves so much time!

Offhand I dont see the use case. The regular one works with 8 foot ceilings, and the adjustable one is not 2 feet taller, so it cant be used on 10' ceilings. It may work with 9' foot ceilings, but that is not a standard height.

Yeah, these were on sale earlier this year for half price which is a good deal. Would have gotten one except storage is a pain for something you use rarely. I ended up getting a 12 foot reach, 7 in 1 folding ladder, which has 3 hinges, Then setting up as a scaffold and placing 3/4 particle board across the top with safety straps to hold it in place. Works for painting 10' ceilings, hanging drapery hardware. You need this to edge paint the walls where they meet the ceiling. 2 placements will do one wall vs 6-8 with a step ladder, It also stores compactly.

Bought this one a while ago, tried using it for painting on my house this fall & it was a fail. Not tall enough to reach to even the eves or to caulk below the eves & I'm 6ft. Only place I could use it was at the garage door header. For me this wasn't the helpful tool I was lead to believe it would be…

The adjustable ones are as you say significantly heavier and I find myself shying away from it when most of time the standard will do. Also found myself not needing the adjustable as much as thought I might.

You had to be aware of the the height and reach. I don't see how anybody "led" or fooled you to purchase. You are only reviewing based on your one use case where you bought something to short for the job you specially wanted to do. You point out one use case that it was not good for and ignore maybe tens of thousands of others. Think you are trying to lead us us as bit trying to say the product is bad when you just made an unwise purchase of something that was not suited for the job you intended.
