My Son In Law chatted with Discover online via their chat customer service on their website and asked if he could get a lower APR and they gave him for 12 months for 0.00% APR.

This is perfect time for the holiday season and they even gave it to me as well!

He suggusted I told my other family members about it so I thought I would share it here too.

0% Promo APR popped upon login but it has 5% transfer fee. egregious.. sorry, I'm so outdated , don't like more than 1.9% fee.

That's not what I did. I charged everything I could on the Discover card for a year even though I had the cash on hand to pay the bill. I invested that cash I would have used to pay the bill. Then after a year I withdrew from the investment and paid the bill.

I can't remember how much mine dropped but I think it may have been around 50 points. I'm thinking it was probably because I always pay my balances each month and carrying a large balance set off a red flag because it was so different from my normal credit pattern.

What do they pay 1st? Forgive my ignorance, but when you do this promo and you're already carrying a balance, what does your monthly payments go to pay off first? So just to clarify my question. If I'm carrying a $2000.00 balance and I have this 0% for future purchases promo applied to my account, then I put another $2000.00 in purchases on the card and I pay $400.00 a month payment on the card. How does Discover apply my payments? Is it 200.00 to the old balance and 200.00 to the new 0% balance? Is it new balance first? I've always wondered this.

I have a transfer balance check for 8k with 5.99 apr. I am paying that monthly.. Will check if new purchases can be zero apr

Easy peasy, got me a year 0% purchases. I have gotten same offer in past years as well. For reference I do spend quite a bit through a couple different Discover cards each month, always paid in full.
