I have this freezer. Bought 1 yr ago. Very pleased. It is not frost free, but I only have needed to defrost once this past year. I paid $198 at Walmart. Only caution is, inspect carefully as many reviews reported shipping damage. I did not luckily. I would buy this freezer again. I like that is front loading vs bottom. You can see the frozen items much easier.

"garage ready" is a subjective term - don't put a lot of weight into it. Make sure you check the climate range this unit can efficiently support (0-110 degrees F / -17 to 43 degrees C).

No specs or description I could find searching the page about this, but a pic shows it is garage ready. I would add that to your title, OP.

This is a freezer. Walmart also has a fridge about the same size. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Frigid...hbdg=L1102

I bought it when it was posted last time and returned because people pointed out that this may not be a garage ready freezer. The manual says the operation temperature is 60F-90F. This range is not suitable for north east climate.

I just purchased two 7.4 cf refrigerators from Walmart. Both arrived with huge dents courtesy of Fedex. I had to bring it back to Walmart store cause once the straps are cut there is no re-boxing it for fedex to pick up.

To double check -- the coils run through the shelves, right? (Need a freezer to put a conical fermenter into)

You don't really want to use a garage ready refrigerator in a garage. It will do much better than one that is not garage ready, but you are taxing it, and you're spending a lot of money on expensive energy in perpetuity. It's a forever Blindspot expense to anyone who's not money savvy.

Good thing about non-defrosting freezers is your food doesn't get freezer burn when auto-defrosting.

The best way to get rid of all the ice in not automatic defrost freezer is to use an electric firestarter for barbecue grills or a heat gun. A heat gun seems a little too direct for me.

My Uber freezer is a standup freezer that has energy efficiency and is garage ready even though I am keeping inside, but I don't want Auto defrost in my freezer because I hate freezer burnt food and I don't mind defrosting the freezer manually with the right tools . I cannot seem to find energy efficient (energy star)refrigerators, and freezers anymore.

If you keep your freezing your garage, I suggest you insulate your garage. It helps with many things, including keeping heat from seeping into your house through the garage door and walls

A standup freezers is much better than a chest freezer in my opinion . My long game is to have a front drawer refrigerator that has no freezer and a standup freezer with shelves.

Purchase this a few months ago. Has worked well. Sam's Club had a very similar freezer except that it had 4 or 5 built-in drawers, which some may prefer. It can also be used as a fridge. The Sam's model was $249. https://www.samsclub.com/p/uprigh..._product_9

I'm tempted since it's easier to freeze things flat, you can see everything, and it takes up less space in the garage. Not finding efficiency info on this.

On the fence though because it's probably half as efficient as a chest freezer, and this summer someone disconnected power to the chest freezer, and I didn't find out until 4 days later, and stuff was still frozen.
