T-mobile has a hidden plan for 30GB data a month data plan (you get your own sim and need your own device).

I got a cellular modem for $40: https://www.netgear.com/home/mobile-wifi/lte-modems/lm1200/ [netgear.com] and was able to use it with T-mobile's provided sim card.

Call in or use their online chat to inquire about the "Basic Mobile Internet 30GB plan (SOC: MI30TE or MI30TI)". It is $15/mo but you get a $5/mo discount by using autopay.

If you can't repro then you suck. This also provides you with a phone number for the data account and you get access to t-mobile tuesdays despite it only being a data plan Smilie

Better deal on modem if you need: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/pr...1fEALw_wcB
That has to be plugged into a router.

I guess I suck. This isn't reproducible if Tmobile Internet isn't available in your area (regardless of how many decades you've had Tmobile phone service, lol).

It can be, though it isn't required for wired use. If you want wifi you'll need an access point or a router with wifi.

Even better of a deal is if you have a child in school you can get T mobiles project 10 million for free!

That means you get a free hotspot sent to you with free shipping as well as 200 free gb of hotspot data a year for the next 5 years. It used to be 100 but they doubled it.

This also comes with its own SIM card that has its own phone number as well.

Here is the link. Some might be morally against this idea, but I got a couple and figure as long as my kids utilize them the right way any Additional use is alright.

Only if you need to connect multiple devices or WiFi.

You should be able to connect a single device on the LAN port and use LTE, since that's what would happen in 'backup mode'

At Costco today, I asked about this deal. I currently have 5 lines on Magenta Max.

The rep checked, and said he could offer me: 40 GB/Month for $15/ month, with $5/month discount for autopay for total of $10/month. Additional offer of $25 Costco Gift card

He also offered a Buy One, get half off: the deal was TWO separate hotspot lines, each with 40GB/month, for a total of $15/month with autopay for both lines Each line also came with $25 Costco Gift card for total of $50 cash card.

I took the two line deal.

Separately, I tried to upgrade my Pixel 7 to Pixel 10 Pro, but rep told me he couldn't match the online deal directly from T-Mobile.com and told me I was better off doing that upgrade online.

Does your rate include taxes?

I signed up for the 30/GB plan last year and the rep had to verify he used the correct code.
Apparently there was a code where taxes was not included in the rate.
This was at Costco.
No hard sell and I was not an existing T-Mobile customer.
I just mentioned I heard about this plan.
This was a T-Mobile only kiosk.
From what the rep told me, they were T-Mobile employees.
If the Costco kiosk displays multiple carriers, then they are a mobile reseller.
This may account for the different experiences people have, assuming what i was told is true.
After this, I did start to notice that some Costco stores do indeed only have a single carrier logo at the kiosk, vs. all three.

I pay $10 a month.
$15 - $5 with autopay, but I had to use a debit card (or bank account) to get the discount.

Check your local craigslist, marketplace, etc. to see if anyone is selling their Hotspot modems.
I was able to get the InSeego MiFi 2000 for $40.
5G capable.
Just make sure it works for T-Mobile as apparently the hotspot modems can also be carrier locked.

Just completed this via chat. Not a previous T-mobile customer. Super easy - was a credit pull though. I asked for a sim to be sent and just said I am ordering a hotspot. Will try a regular phone first however and it should work. They are mailing me a sim and $10 a month was correct with autopay. Thanks OP

I gave the rep the two codes from this post. (SOC: MI30TE or MI30TI). I don't know if he used one of those or a different one. I poked around on the web site to see if it gives a code somewhere in my account information, but don't see it.
On your Tmo account page, what is the description of your $10 40GB hotspot plan?
Does the description show $10 40GB?
My $10 30GB plan description is "Basic Mobile Internet w/ 30GB high-speed data - taxes included". I think my plan code is MI30TI.

Account page shows "Basic Mobile Internet w/ 30 GB high-speed data - taxes included".

When we were working on the T-Mobile rep's tablet, the text for the deal was showing 40GB, and he thought that the limit enforced would be 40GB to align with Magenta MAX, since all my voice lines are on that plan.

We'll see. I'll have to conduct a test to use the entire allotment and see what happens. Either it's 40 or it's 30, either way I'm satisfied with the deal.

My plan says taxes included.

At the Costcos in my area each Costco has only one carrier in the store, so if you want a particular carrier, you have to go to a specific Costco location. Not a huge deal for me since there are 5 Costcos within a 30 minute drive!

SOC code Mi30Ti for tax inclusive Mi30Te for exclusive. If you already have TMO account they will sign you with the tax or without tax. They can't mix inclusive and exclusive together in one account

T-Mobile has a home Internet backup plan for $10 ($20 without voice line) a month that includes 130gb of data. Seems like a better use of anyone is planning to use this at one location.
What voice plan is required for $10 price? I have the Simple Choice Family Promo plan, when I choose this, I see $20/mo with $5 autopay

This seems like a much better option for $10. You get a modem along with it.

Can anyone chime in on why this isn't the better route?
Because your address have to qualify for the 130gb backup internet.
I tried getting for my main home which has great 5G and it say not available.
I was going to try for this and use it for my secondary home which barely has signals.
Surely if it wasn't available for my primary home, it wouldn't be for the secondary.
I heard people are able to move that backup internet anywhere but Tmobile has the ability to stop that anytime.
The key here is if it's available for your address, get it.
This internet is good for everywhere you can get a signal.
