T-mobile has a hidden plan for 30GB data a month data plan (you get your own sim and need your own device).
I got a cellular modem for $40:
https://www.netgear.com/home/mobile-wifi/lte-modems/lm1200/ [netgear.com] and was able to use it with T-mobile's provided sim card.
Call in or use their online chat to inquire about the "Basic Mobile Internet 30GB plan (SOC: MI30TE or MI30TI)". It is $15/mo but you get a $5/mo discount by using autopay.
If you can't repro then you suck. This also provides you with a phone number for the data account and you get access to t-mobile tuesdays despite it only being a data plan

That means you get a free hotspot sent to you with free shipping as well as 200 free gb of hotspot data a year for the next 5 years. It used to be 100 but they doubled it.
This also comes with its own SIM card that has its own phone number as well.
Here is the link. Some might be morally against this idea, but I got a couple and figure as long as my kids utilize them the right way any Additional use is alright.

Only if you need to connect multiple devices or WiFi.
You should be able to connect a single device on the LAN port and use LTE, since that's what would happen in 'backup mode'
The rep checked, and said he could offer me: 40 GB/Month for $15/ month, with $5/month discount for autopay for total of $10/month. Additional offer of $25 Costco Gift card
He also offered a Buy One, get half off: the deal was TWO separate hotspot lines, each with 40GB/month, for a total of $15/month with autopay for both lines Each line also came with $25 Costco Gift card for total of $50 cash card.
I took the two line deal.
Separately, I tried to upgrade my Pixel 7 to Pixel 10 Pro, but rep told me he couldn't match the online deal directly from T-Mobile.com and told me I was better off doing that upgrade online.
Does your rate include taxes?
I signed up for the 30/GB plan last year and the rep had to verify he used the correct code.
Apparently there was a code where taxes was not included in the rate.
This was at Costco.
No hard sell and I was not an existing T-Mobile customer.
I just mentioned I heard about this plan.
This was a T-Mobile only kiosk.
From what the rep told me, they were T-Mobile employees.
If the Costco kiosk displays multiple carriers, then they are a mobile reseller.
This may account for the different experiences people have, assuming what i was told is true.
After this, I did start to notice that some Costco stores do indeed only have a single carrier logo at the kiosk, vs. all three.
I pay $10 a month.
$15 - $5 with autopay, but I had to use a debit card (or bank account) to get the discount.
Check your local craigslist, marketplace, etc. to see if anyone is selling their Hotspot modems.
I was able to get the InSeego MiFi 2000 for $40.
5G capable.
Just make sure it works for T-Mobile as apparently the hotspot modems can also be carrier locked.

Does the description show $10 40GB?
My $10 30GB plan description is "Basic Mobile Internet w/ 30GB high-speed data - taxes included". I think my plan code is MI30TI.

Account page shows "Basic Mobile Internet w/ 30 GB high-speed data - taxes included".
When we were working on the T-Mobile rep's tablet, the text for the deal was showing 40GB, and he thought that the limit enforced would be 40GB to align with Magenta MAX, since all my voice lines are on that plan.
We'll see. I'll have to conduct a test to use the entire allotment and see what happens. Either it's 40 or it's 30, either way I'm satisfied with the deal.

My plan says taxes included.
At the Costcos in my area each Costco has only one carrier in the store, so if you want a particular carrier, you have to go to a specific Costco location. Not a huge deal for me since there are 5 Costcos within a 30 minute drive!

Can anyone chime in on why this isn't the better route?
I tried getting for my main home which has great 5G and it say not available.
I was going to try for this and use it for my secondary home which barely has signals.
Surely if it wasn't available for my primary home, it wouldn't be for the secondary.
I heard people are able to move that backup internet anywhere but Tmobile has the ability to stop that anytime.
The key here is if it's available for your address, get it.
This internet is good for everywhere you can get a signal.
