On aliexpress, you can only buy things shipped from China or those cheap things shipped from U.S. CPUs, cameras and other small stuff, despite saying sold 10 or 50 or 100, are just fake listings that will be canceled about 10 days later automatically. Aliexpress intentionally leave these sellers there to trick you into fake orders so your money can stay in their system for several days - and get a good return when they have significant amount. $180 12900K, $300 14900K… I literally place thousands of dollars of orders on Aliexpress for these ship from U.S. items and never ever got even one shipped out. All either expire, or fake shipping and have to go through the painful refund process.

On the gaming side of things, the 5700x is certainly still adequate and a fine choice for many gamers. But with gaming considered, the margins do start closing in a bit on the CPU side of the equation when considering ultra quality, high frames, and relevant lifespan for those requirements for new gaming titles. Part what you buy when you buy a "better" CPU is its useful life and how long it will be able to handle new releases. Part of that comes down to whether a user is willing to make med-high quality concessions in their settings, part of that comes down to the very worst frames per second you get <1% of the time "0.1% and 1% lows" referred to as dips, part of that comes down to whether you play CPU-intensive genres namely strategy or super late game automation/simulation 'infinite' sandboxes, and part of that excess frames per second (the age old debate of 144 vs. 300+FPS). Because, of that you have three different philosophies "is it measurably better" vs. "how long will it be sufficient for ultra quality" vs. "how long will it be sufficient with med-high concessions." A better CPU will always be measureable, but that doesn't make it a necessity. Remember that in an uncapped game, your GPU and CPU do the equivalent of flooring the gas pedal to create the maximum obtainable framerate until one holds the other back.. but ultimately speed limit of human perception is still 70MPH. That means a CPU that can go 160MPH in one title currently just has a longer useful life. While it's game dependent, the GPU is the quicker to become floored and thus more likely to be the component that gives immediate performance boosts, thus it is where people sink eco-budgets.
If you're budget restricted, the 5700x is a phenomenal "results now" choice especially for esports optimized titles at this price. At the time of this post, there's a great chance it has an ultra quality ceiling in an average random title and should run drastically cheaper than an AM5 RAM/CPU combo, especially once adding a motherboard. The drawback is that the walls are closing in on a ticking clock for ultra-quality settings. But still: it's great. To give perspective as to how relevant this CPU is for gaming in 2024: I'm personally running a 2019 15% worse-than-5700x AM4 CPU released in 2019, but paired with an excessive $800 GPU (It passed my see first in a "see first, upgrade CPU/mobo later" four months ago). Thus far, in the smallish sample of games I play, I haven't seen titles that I play struggle outside of sufficient at 1440p ultra and have seen no less than an average ~120FPS (Once Human was the worst thrown at it) or any worrisome dips/1% lows. Obviously, you won't get these results without a good GPU, but that ceiling is there. And again, that is with an $800 GPU paired with a 15%-worse-than-5700x CPU that I'd fully expect to be held back by something like a CPU-intensive, late-game 'infinite' Satisfactory. Were I to upgrade my CPU to an X3D, would I get better 0.1% lows, 1% lows, higher FPS above 120-144+ in titles where I'm not getting it, and be able to build a slightly larger Satisfactory etc,? Absolutely, but again: it's sufficient for me and I'm a how long will it be sufficient kind of gamer. So.. yes the X3D will push those infinite sandboxes/strategy games a bit further and will make everyone else a bit better, but what is sufficient?
This is a good time to talk about the "edge" X3D chips have aside from just general performance increases. Basically, they incorporated a larger L3 Cache which is directly on the CPU. For a layman's explanation, your CPU is constantly reading from and writing to RAM. Each time it does this, a really short little "trip" has to be made to fetch and send that information. A larger L3 cache means that more can be stored directly on the CPU and thus by increasing the size of CPU cache, your CPU can store more of the things its currently working on and bypass the round-trip time it takes for a RAM read/write. X3D chips basically multiplied the size of this cache by about 3 (5700X3D & 7800X3D have 96MB). So basically, it has a larger worktable to store its projects on - thus decreasing the time it takes to run to its filing cabinet. This actually results in a fairly massive performance increase that is totally worth having.
If you wish to stay on AM4 the best end-game gaming AM4 socket CPU that is currently widely available is the ~$200 5700X3D and because of that L3 Cache, that's where I'd want to be. Technically there is a better 5800X3D that is marginally better, but it's no longer being sold new and is just a higher-bin 5700X3d. While this 5700x deal remains the best route for "results now," fresh super-budget restricted builders, the 5700X3D/5800X3D is the CPU you want on an end-game AM4.
And if you are a gamer with a bit looser of a budget and are going a full new platform (mobo/ram/CPU), the AM5 7600x almost always beats out a 5700X3D, with much more headspace for existing CPU upgrades plus future development. Albeit you're probably talking a ~$200 AM5 premium.
To sum that all up: this CPU is one of the very best AM4 CPUs on a still very relevant and supported platform, but it is an L3 Cache improvement off the best-in-slot AM4 CPUs. When paired with a good GPU, AM4 CPUs are more than capable of ultra settings, but new CPU development is not expected for AM4 while jumping to AM5 fetches about a $150-200+ premium, but has continued development.
