FYI, I would suggest looking into all the security vulnerabilities that tplink products have, likely intentional and linked to the ccp. Just to describe my own experience... I had a tplink deco m9+ that shows firmware as updated through tplink app, but a manual check shows the firmware as old. I went to the tplink website for manual update, the program can't find the m9+ in the same network or the m9+ refuses connection. The latter is true, the web interface refuses to connect so no manual update of the firmware. This behavior is really suspect. The security vulnerabilities are such a concern that congress is considering banning tplink altogether. I would steer clear of companies based in mainland china and limit to taiwanese companies like asus instead, or better yet some US based companies like cisco or linksys. many IOT (internet of things) from chinese companies are used as vectors to attack from or hide identity with. I suggest looking into tplink problems and see if you should stay away from it also.

Mostly nonsense and hysteria posted by someone who didn't take the time to read in detail what the issues and potential vulnerabilities really are. It was more a hit piece against the largest Chinese manufacturer to apply political pressure to a foreign government and people are parroting it.

TP-link DECO line has some of the longest support cycles of ANY of their competitors, and firmware updates have been coming regularly. Saying they have short support cycles is absolute nonsense.

Went from 3 to 6 of these decos. Definitely works better when there are more.

Most people don't care and they don't understand the problem. People like saying, "I'm using it for x years and I never had any problem". That's the scary part of these attacks. These devices are used in the distributed denial of service attacks and owners won't even notice that their routers are doing that. TP-Link is pretty bad when it comes to firmware updates. Their routers have a very short life cycles (from sales and support), so they just stop supporting them. I have been a TP-Link fan for a long time, but as I got more understanding of these things, I decided to leave the brand.
I use their smart switches.. Should I be worried

totally agree. my m9plus' latest firmware is 202407, though the router was bought at 2021 from costco.
My 3pk Deco M9+ bought from Costco in 2020 is on firmware 1.6.4 build 20240718 Rel. 76925

Great price for a wifi 6E system.

Quote from im2c0ol :
The only downside I've found with this system is that only one device can be hardwired. Any additional mesh units must connect to the main one via Wi-Fi, which I'm not a fan of, especially in environments with other devices causing interference. This limitation makes the setup less reliable in terms of maintaining a stable and consistent connection across the network.
All the TP-Links device since they started doing mesh support wired backhaul so that would not be correct. All of them can connect through ethernet to free up the wifi bands for traffic, its even listed in the 2nd picture provided in the OP's post.

I have the regular AXE5400 TP-Link Router. I was very satisfied with it until it just turned off after 6 months. Currently doing RMA with TP-Link. I used TP-Link routers in the past without any issues in fact my last one was like 6 years or older before I switched. But until the router turned off on its own and didn't came back on I was very satisfied with both the Ethernet performance and the WIFI 6E performance.

Can this be used to add to existing mesh of the same type? Like 3+2

I actually have the model in this post, and was able to use my M9+ as well for a couple other areas of my house. Zero complaints.

This model has worked well for me. I have 4 of these nodes throughout the house all part of same mesh network. These have worked better for me than my previous Orbi mesh.

Yes, just want the more powerful ones connected to the modem to do the heavy lifting, if they are all the same than it does not matter.

I bought 8 of them, but good luck finding them for $20 anymore. I gave most of mine away as gifts for Xmas to family members who were still on wifi 5 since they always complain about their internet. They were literally THEE best deal last year ever, even though linksys has middling performance for the price it just could not be beat.

Can I have two mesh systems in my house? I want a SSID for IOT devices and one for my home network. Will this cause interference having two separate systems running?
