For gaming this has an RTX 4070 so if you want higher resolution in-game you just set your DSR factors in Nvidia control panel which will allow you to select 1600P (1.78x DL) and 4K resolution - or whatever the 16:10 equivalent is called - ( 2.25x DL) in game settings. Get with the times, this topic is quickly becoming the next red flag that someone doesn't know what they're talking about when it comes to screen resolutions on this site.
I bought this laptop open-box excellent in the other deal thread for $990. It needs a little bit of work, luckily it's a phenomenal machine after the following is done:
1. Soldered RAM runs in single-channel, this will gimp you performance on CPU-heavy games. However, this laptop is easy to disassemble and install more RAM to get dual-channel and an additional nvme drive while you have it open. I used this crucial stick: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08C511GQH. This gave me a 100% FPS uplift in Path of Exile 2. I also installed a 1TB silicon power nvme drive while I was down there.
2. Asus Armory Crate isn't great, you can install G-helper if you want. But, what needs to be done here is that the default fan profiles spin the CPU fan heavily (LOUD) and let the GPU fan stay low. The GPU in this unit runs very cool, thus the fan never spools up. But the CPU and GPU share their heat pipes; so you can bring down your CPU fan and bring up the GPU fan and balance out the sound and cooling. This solves all thermal and noise problems.
3. Speakers are actually very good hardware (decent sized and fire upwards) but the laptop comes with Dolby Software installed that muddies the sound out of the box. You will want to open the Dolby app and either set this to their Music profile with "detailed" option, or create your own custom EQ within the app. Turn volume-leveling off for all profiles as Dolby's normalization formula doesn't quite get it right and just ends up muffling the entire low-end.
Misc: Webcam sucks, buy a dedicated webcam if you use this for work calls. Trackpad is very good (best Windows trackpad I've used, not quite Macbook level) but overly sensitive and double-taps occasionally on default settings so I turned down sensitivity and disabled double-tap to drag.
Windows GPU management is still a bit weird, I manually turn off the dGPU when off-charger using Asus Armory Crate, roughly 7hrs of battery life this way. Has a USB-C to Display Port outlet on the left side of the laptop that is direct to the dGPU for external monitors and gaming. Requires MyAsus app to limit charging to 80%.
For tuners: +235 core clock and +1000 mem clock in Afterburner undervolt to .985mv for the RTX 4070. The TDP for this 4070 is like 95% performance of the 140W but the laptop is still a slim format which rocks.
So, this has now become my work PC as well as game-on-the-go machine. Great unit. Feel free to ask more questions.
Like I said, if you can find SO-DIMM RAM that's faster than 3200 MHZ, I will eat my words.
If you want to max out graphics settings when gaming on an RTX 4070, you may want to stick with a 1080p screen.

It's ddr4, 3600, and on sale.
But being on sale wasn't the point, that 3200 isn't the fastest ddr4, but 3600 is was the point. Don't tell people 3200 is the fastest ddr4 when that is incorrect?

The ASUS TUF is their low end line of (gaming) laptops.
The link you added points to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 8GB GDDR6 Graphics Card with only 40W TGP.
This laptop has an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU 8GB GDDR6 Graphics Card with 120W (2250MHz Boost Clock+50MHz OC, 100W+20W Dynamic Boost).

I've heard AMD is better for gaming and cooler temp PC operation. Intel is better for multitasking and runs hotter. IDK, I'm definitely not an expert. I pulled the trigger on this ASUS for several reasons: $1K price point for me, thunderbolt connection, $200 BB gift card to use up, and 12 month 0% financing. All the bells and whistles I wanted. I wish the ram wasn't soldered, but I think it will be ok for me. Eventually I will hook into an eGPU, which is why I wanted a laptop with a Thunderbolt connection.
The Lenovo seemed like a better overall PC, especially if you could get the $100 off your first order coupon. It seems like a brighter screen, more future upgrade options for RAM, 2x bigger HHD. This is all coming from a novice laptop guy though. I can't answer on the different in GPU wattage between the two. This seems like a big deal if you really want screaming high graphics.

Had I put $1450 into Bitcoin ($9500) instead, it would be worth $16,000 today.
That now obsolete laptop has an opportunity cost of $16k to date, with no limit. The higher BTC goes over time, after each 4 year halving cycle, the higher the opportunity cost to myself and my family, forever.
This isn't taught in university, but is one of the top 3 lessons for building financial security/wealth. Think of every discretionary purchase in terms of opportunity cost.
