That's a lot of laptop for <$400. 300 nit, 144hz screen is plenty good. Battery means it'll have to live plugged in, but great way to get into PC gaming with some portability.

What are you smoking, the GPU is just like a 70watt 3050 and in most cases slightly better. The only thing that needs to be done is a RAM upgrade and this thing can play any game on 1080p thats currently out and still get you around 30-50FPS on medium to high settings.

Make sure to swap the wifi card out with an AX210 to prevent audio issues.

Actually kinda tempting- but it should be noted that you're definitely going to want to change/add RAM because it's a single channel config. I would probably pull the trigger no questions asked at $365 though.
DDR5 runs dual channel stock on a single stick.

Right on. Great price for what it is. I bought one similar, a g5 with a 3050 while managing expectations.

If purchasing as an entry into pc gaming, it's also a great place to learn about the cost of pc gaming hardware. 8GB of ram might not be enough, 512GB ssd might not be enough so many can upgrade those or run an external ssd for games. Maybe looking at another $300ish. Doing it bit by bit like I did makes this an ok deal. If no upgrades are required, solid deal.

Honestly I've never seen a notebook with this kind of gaming performance at this price. The hardware is not high end and is not the latest-and-greatest but if you just want something cheap with 3-4x the performance of a Steam Deck then go for it.

I would also keep in mind the 4GB of VRAM on the 6650M may not be the best with the very latest games.

It meets the minimum requirements but it does not have enough VRAM for recommended requirements and GPU not quite as powerful as recommended one. It also would require a RAM upgrade to meet recommended requirements, although that is not expensive at all.

Please. It's crap. 4gb VRAM to start. It's not even close to a 3050.
it's competitive with 3050 mobile, and at the same TDP perhaps even slightly faster. You're right about the VRAM being an issue for many games though. And no DLSS on the AMD hardware. I would also prefer the 3050 mobile but good luck finding it at this price.

I think the 3050 mobile at least has DLSS. Tbh, I've never seen one the market.
