FWIW I really like the Pixel 9. Excellent screen, responsive and great cameras. The "slow" processor doesn't affect me at all as a non-gamer.

Just an FYI the Mint deal is still going on which might be of interest to some. Pixel 9 for $399 with a year of unlimited service for $180. You have to buy the service with it, so all in for $579+tax and a $25 mint 'recovery' fee. The phone is initially locked to Mint, but unlocked after 60 days.

I don't like how most phones have been creeping up in size. Pixel 5 was excellent, as was the 4a. I tolerated the 6a, but the 8 was better. Seems like with the 9 lineup we're getting back into bigger phones again...

How is the fingerprint sensor on this phone? I have a 6a where it's unusable, so I only want to upgrade to a model where it works reliably even with a case.

There are some pretty budget phones in there like the S24Fe that aren't far away.

And overall the BASE pixel 9 is lower than the Pro and XL. Given the slow cpu on the pixel 9, its still a budget phone, just like the s24FE. However the S24FE comes with an actual optical telephoto lens.

I have a S24u and a P8P and I have a bunch of professional gear and I will say the camera setup in the S24 is flawed compared to the past (5x) and it does not smoothly transition, but I would have a hard time to say there are massive differences at all. I have Gemini and I have the same editing tools so its really meh.

I will say the S24 squareness is no bueno, but the pen is nice.

If I had a choice I would say the Pixel OS is more usable and better than OneUi but on the other hand the modem and connectivity on the Samsung is better. I dont feel the P8P CPU is slow either, but I don't play any heavy games but for everything else its just fine (IMHO) and smooth.

BTW I got the P8P 256 for $360 (grade A) w/ 1 year warranty from ebay--Great to wait as they say.

I have a Pixel 9 Pro and an iPhone 16 Pro, both on Verizon. I find cellular service on the Pixel phone to be noticeably better in areas with poor coverage such as train station platforms and tunnels. I'm a sample size of one but when I'm stuck in one of those places the Pixel phone works significantly more often than the iPhone.
