In case someone is looking for this good player, BB has this open box good condition for $142.99.

This is the best value player from Panasonic imo.
The only meaningful thing this is missing compared to the 820 is Dolby Vision.

The Optimizer on this does so well with static HDR & transfer quality can vary widely with dynamic HDR(DV).
The difference can regularly be marginal between the two especially if you consider the significant price difference imo.
Not all disc offer DV also.

FYI this is the Panasonic player the game consoles fans should use as a comparison since they do not offer support for DV on disc either.

If you don't need Dolby Vision, may be the best value 4k player out there. There's also a belief that manufacturing of these players may stop at some point.

I paid about $95.00 for this open box at Best Buy in December 2023...in the box with all accessories

Decent player...connected to a Samsung QN90a so no need for Dolby Vision capability

I have this player, solid player. It's my backup. With that said, there have been a ton of deals on the Panasonic UDP 820 for $399 or less. both Walmart and Amazon have sellers right now at that price. That one is a beast and will be a LARGE upgrade over just about anything else that isn't the top of the line $1000 players.

Depending on how much more the cost is, it might be worth it if they got rid of known issues and the manual DV on/off switching.

I was hoping Panasonic would come out with a new player using their new HCX chipset!
It would be fine(imo) if it was an updated version of the 420! 🙏🏼
